RavenBlack Updates
Here's where you can read RavenBlack's most recent improvements and updates in RavenBlack City.
Latest Update-November 10, 2003- Minor alteration of Holy Water A vampire now must have 200 blood before they can use Holy Water. The corresponding change has not been made for Scrolls of Turning - they can still be used by a vampire with 50 blood. This is to make it a bit less easy for vampires to drift around near-death while continuing to assault a stronger vampire. Vampires being attacked so much that they can't retaliate always have the option of getting Neutrality while they recover. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Latest Update - August 31 2003 - Shadows and Neutrality improvements Previously, Shadows would protect you from being seen on the map, but not from being bitten, robbed or holy-watered if someone knew you were there; you are now immune to these attacks while Lost in Shadows, though not to Scrolls of Turning because they are an area effect. Neutral vampires now can use Scrolls of Turning; they cannot cause damage to the vampires in the target area. This is the mirror image of if a vampire Turns a Neutral vampire. August 05 2003 - Bugs fixed There was a bug related to giving money, introduced with the additional effect of Neutrality, causing given money to be lost. This bug has now been fixed. A lesser bug with the Peacekeepers requiring you to be carrying more than their price (rather than exactly their price) has also been fixed. Those who mentioned their loss prior to the fix have been refunded; unfortunately, I can't refund any who make a claim from now on, since some would invent losses in an attempt to cheat. August 04 2003 - Additional effect of Neutrality Everyone can sense when a vampire is Neutral. This is indicated by the vampire being highlighted in pink rather than the usual white. August 03 2003 - Peacekeepers There are flyers pasted up on many walls in the city, advertising "Peacekeepers Missions". There are very small quite useless maps scrawled on the poorly photocopies scraps of paper, but the addresses are quite clear - the newbie mission is at Emerald and 67th, while the others are at Unicorn and 33rd and Emerald and 33rd respectively. It looks like 'mission' is used in the sense of a building, rather than the sense of a quest, but it's not very clear at all. (See the How To Play page for details of the newly available power. It also slightly complicates what you get in return for donating.) July 02 2003 - Quest Illumination A lot of people seem to have been missing their quest directions in trying to acquire Celerity. To make this easier, quest directions now appear on the My Vampire page, if you have a quest active. May 27 2003 - New Travellers Guilds There is a new guild available, making it possible to get Celerity in the city at last. Sorry it took a while - server crashes and preparing to move to another country are both time consuming things. May 18 2003 - Horrible Horrible Death The server issues experienced today should now be remedied; vampires who thought they were deleted should be okay to log in, and the server is alive and well. My apologies for the downtime - it was entirely beyond my control. Most of it was waiting for someone at the hosting place to reboot the machine, as soft-reboot wasn't working. May 01 2003 - More Power To The Immolators The Immolators Guilds are now able to teach vampires how to get the power of Suction. Apr 23 2003 - FAQ changed The FAQ has been replaced with a branching tree sort of construction, so it should be easier to find your question, and easier for me to add new answers if I get repeated questions. The system of power allocation with regard to donations was also simplified. Apr 12 2003 - Extra Stamina Effect Stamina now has the additional effect of offering some protection from Scrolls of Turning. Chance of resisting the effect increases with each level of Stamina (never to 100%). It has no effect on Holy Water. Those of you who attack with Scrolls, don't whine at me about this - they weren't intended as attacks in the first place, but rather for clearing out overfilled squares. Apr 02 2003 - Minor Changes A bit of extra anti-cheating code has been added, as well as a clearer bit in the FAQ with regard to the validity of making extra vampires. To prevent one specific type of unfair behaviour, it now costs an action point if you repeatedly refresh your city map without doing anything. Speaking now costs half an action point rather than a whole one.
