What drives him through the darkest day
is knowing it will have an end
He stays away from making plans
they never turn out anyway
He saw a shooting star last night
and lost for wishes let it fade
He's rooted in the here and now
and can't be moved to yesterday
Some people find him comforting,
a fortress in the wildest storm
But there's a woman pitying him
for lack of vision and of hope
She saw him trotting on his path
and wondered where he's going to
until she saw it in his eyes
he didn't care, he walked to move
She tries to greet him at the bar,
involve him in the social talks
He tipped his hat and left again,
leaving his drink untouched behind
