Phobia suffered through a troubled childhood at an orphanage with abusive head mistresses in Boston, Massachusetts. He grew up being afraid of everything and everyone. He was constantly trying to gain acceptance, but never received it, except from his close friend Autopsy who helped him cope through his childhood.
As he entered his teens, he began to grow bigger and stronger than the rest of the kids. As he grew, he also became more sure of himself and learened to conquer his fears. He quickly gained the acceptance he had been seeking through athletic accomplishments. He was a baseball and football star, but was looked down upon by colleges for his temper and propensity for fighting. He looked to be heading for a life on the wrong side of the tracks. That is, until he met The Ancient.
The Ancient discovered Phobia and Autopsy and found within them an intense desire to win. He taught them the ways of the light and the ins and outs of a wrestling ring. Phobia often strays from the teachings of The Ancient, and although Phobia has denounced him as his manager, he always remains in contact with him and tries to steer him back towards the light. Usually, Phobia hears the call, but that is not always the case.
