WELCOME TO
Above: All of the intricate glass work and mosaic was done one piece at a time - all by hand! There were so many things to see unfortunately because of the way things were built up on a higher "platforms" Simon didn't get to see many of the building up close but he saw enough of the whole ground to enjoy the beautiful artwork and the grandness of it all.
Above and below: I found this excellent "THEN" and "NOW" comparison of Bangkok over looking the mighty Chao Praya river. The photo above was taken in 1865 and the one below was taken from about the same place in 2006.

One of my life long dreams has been realised! I finally got Simon here to see Bangkok - The city of Angels, the Venice of the east, in the land of smiles! We only stayed a week but it was a good week and we saw many sites, eat lots of great food, visit my family and Simon got to see life outside of Australia. Here are some of the photos - enjoy.
Of course, one must see the Emerald Buddha temple and the Grand Palace when one comes to Bangkok. We arrived just in time for Simon to see the changing of the guards. We also went to see the reclining Buddha at Wat Po (more photos of Wat Po in my Nov 05 trip page) and then had lunch at the MBK shopping centre.
