A Prayer for Animals

Hear our humble prayer, oh God, for our friends the animals, especially those who are suffering and are lost, deserted, frightened and hungry.
We entreat for the all Thy mercy and pity. And for those who deal with them, we ask hearts of compassion, gentle hands and kindly words.
Make ourselves to be true friends to animals and to share the blessings of the Merciful. Amen.

PSPCA launches website

In cooperation with erstwhile website developer,
Kaizak Center, under website manager Anthony Buenavista, the Philippine Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (PSPCA) has launched this website not just to inform site visitors on the programs and activities of the PSPCA, but also to provide resources and other information on the handling, caring and welfare of animals in the Philippine context.

As it is apparent, comments, suggestions, and contributions from our visitors would be most welcome, while donations and sponsorships so that this website may be maintained would be highly appreciated. Better yet, be a part of the pioneering advertisers for this new project.

Interested parties may contact the PSPCA secretariat at telephone number (632)7339427 or the KaizaK Center at (632)8320425.

Message from the President

Today our country and our people have been depicted again and again in the western press as inveterate dog-eaters.

We deplore the exaggerated manner by which some international organizations have reported this tribal custom by some minority groups in the north as widespread practice and the way the situation have been overblown to hysterical proportion for some ulterior motive.

They featured us, as if for every dining table of a Filipino home dog meat is being served.

The truth is only the minority is involved; I would rather say it is more of an exception than a rule.

To redeem our tarnished image, we realize that we have to undertake drastic measures to achieve positive results. I appeal to all Filipinos for your cooperation and support to help us implement the Animal Welfare Act (RA 8485).

Let us work together for the eradication of the malpractice by some of our countrymen against man's best friend. Let us tell the world that we Filipinos as a whole are a peace-loving people and know how to take care of the lowlliest creatures, our dumb but loyal friends, the animals.

Let us show that we can maintain our pride and independence in our animal welfare work, consistent with the dignity of our people.

As Mahatma Gandhi said, "The greatness of a nation can be judged by way it treats its animals."
