After traveling through the Corinth Canal on Saturday, September 2, we made stops in Korfos and Poros before arriving in Porto Heli on Tuesday, September 5.  We especially have fond memories of Poros, our first island town on the Aegean side.  It was a charming small town built up the hillside from the waterfront.  Its many narrow streets and steps were lined with whitewash.  As our boat was anchored near the Greek Navy Training Center, we had the pleasure of putting up and retiring our flag each day to the sound of the bugle.  A narrow passage, just mile wide, separated this island from the Peloponnesian mainland, and we departed through this narrow channel for Porto Heli.
Porto Heli, along the Peloponnesian Argolic Gulf, provided a very protected place for us to leave our boat for three days while we enjoyed Athens with Phils brother Barry and his wife Phyllis.  Using Greeces high-speed ferry system, we traveled to Athens Friday, September 8, via hydrofoil and then returned Monday via catamaran.
