a band without a name.....

or "fun with hypertext and hardcore"

the story

In late January of 2004 three young men residing in the Schenectady, New York area, equally involved with the local and national hardcore and punk underground music scene decided to come together and combine there musical and creative talents toward the creation of a new extreme music group. This group initially called "Codename Trixie" began composing and playing music with a few short, loud, and easily structured musical pieces and a few cover songs from 80's hardcore bands such as Black Flag and Minor Threat, and British anarcho punk supergroup Conflict.

Slowly, the group began to formulate heavier songs with a somewhat philosophical and literary twist which lead the group to dub what they played as "Intellicore". However, as the group progresses both structurally and lyrically, a majority of the members of the group expressed a desire to change the name of the band to something more serious and befitting for the group's developing brand of experimental hardcore.

the problem

There in lies the rub. What new name should the up and coming New York experimental hardcore band go by?

the musical content

The reasoning behind the name change comes from the growing development of the band's musical stylings and lyrical content. Originally, the music written and performed by the group was largely styled after original 1980's era hardcore punk music with its element of simplicity in structure and lyrics. As the group progresses, the style of music changes. While the music the group creates is still significantly influenced by 80's hardcore punk in its simple form, the music seems to move more towards the extreme or hardcore style of underground music. What makes the music performed by the group somewhat different from conventional modern day hardcore or other core type bands, is that the songwritting and vocals of the group in combination with the simplicity of the music creates a somewhat new genre of extreme music that tends to be a cross between screamo and curent hardcore bands with (double bass drum absent)along with the simple stylings of 1980's hardcore. Additionally, the group is further influenced by grindcore Itis because of this musical progression that the group seeks a new title to better portray its "new" sound.

the requirements

While the group is open to anything, the band believes that they would best benefit from a name that has some level of meaning, is more than a single world or "The insert name ", and should derive from a Latin language root, philosophy reference, or literary reference. There currently are a number of names copied down from the minds of the group members compiled in one list in one that some members of the group have proposed. If you have any ideas orwish to comment on a name please contact the group at: [email protected]. Any help or comments that you could provide would be deeply appreciated.
