The
Philippine Society for Neuroscience was founded in San Diego, California,
USA, on November 1995 in conjunction with the 25th Annual Meeting of
the Society for Neuroscience. A charter was agreed upon by the founding
members present: Fe Abogadie, Boy Caday, Nonoy Cagampang, Noel Calingasan,
Gerry Castillo, Jong de Castro, Amie Estacio and Emil Tayag.
During the 26th Society for Neuroscience annual meeting held in Washington,
D.C. in 1996, Emil Tayag was elected president, and the constitution
and bylaws of the Society were ratified. Although the first meeting
was purely social in nature, scientific talks on diverse topics by Filipino
members based in the Philippines or the United States were featured
in meetings of recent years.
