Philippine Society for Neuroscience

History

The Philippine Society for Neuroscience was founded in San Diego, California, USA, on November 1995 in conjunction with the 25th Annual Meeting of the Society for Neuroscience. A charter was agreed upon by the founding members present: Fe Abogadie, Boy Caday, Nonoy Cagampang, Noel Calingasan, Gerry Castillo, Jong de Castro, Amie Estacio and Emil Tayag.

During the 26th Society for Neuroscience annual meeting held in Washington, D.C. in 1996, Emil Tayag was elected president, and the constitution and bylaws of the Society were ratified. Although the first meeting was purely social in nature, scientific talks on diverse topics by Filipino members based in the Philippines or the United States were featured in meetings of recent years.
