philip boon - biography

Born and raised in the northern suburbs of Perth, Boon eventually headed east to seek fortune in the fashion capital of Australia - Melbourne that is.

"I came to Melbourne in 1996 and started freelancing as a fashion designer for corporate design houses. I then went to work for IT inc. as their fashion buyer, at their Greville St. store. Whilst doing this I was approached by Chadwicks [modelling and creative agency] to do some styling for them, so although I'd been doing bits of styling for years I just sort of fell into this carreer. I've since moved to the Look agency and have been with them for the past two years. I've styled shoots for magazines and advertising and most recently Tatiana Grigorieva for a story on A Current Affair," enthuses Boon.

This month Melbourne is the fashionista mecca for all style junkies with a pashion for fashion and never has Boon felt more at home. The week of March 19-25 will showcase the winter 2001 collections of Australia's finest fashion designers at the Melbourne Fashion Festival. Boon has had a hand in shaping this festival as the stylist for the official Melbourne Fashion Festival magazine that will be published in the Herald Sun, March 13. Boon has styled shoots within the pages with Aussie supermodel MEGAN GAYLE, and dancing diva TINA ARENA alongside other photo shoots of sporting Adonis's MARK PHILIPPOUSSIS and MICHAEL KLIM.
