| -One of three teams to have won five super bowls (others being Dallas and Pittsburgh) -Have a mascot named Sourdough Sam. San Francisco is known for its delicious sourdough bread -Named in honor of the California gold rush that occurred in the 1840s, in particular 1849. -Original mascot had a mousatched man jumping up and down firing two pistols. The logo was eventually changed to the "SF" you see on this page, as well as a gold and red "49ers". -Inspired by the Chicago Bears' infamous song "The Super Bowl Shuffle", the 49ers also had a song in 1986. It was called "We're the 49ers". Popular 49ers players Joe Montana and Jerry Rice refused to participate. Jerry Rice was reported as saying the song was "stupid" and "awful". |

| -In 1939, the Eagles had the first draft pick and drafted Heisman Trophy winner Jay Berwanger from the University of Chicago. The Eagles were ridiculed when they traded away his rights to the Bears. Fortunately for the Eagles, Berwanger skipped the NFL and went to medical school instead. -Participated in the first televised NFL game against the Brooklyn Dodgers at Ebbets Field. Eagles lost 27-14. -In 1990, the Eagles participated in what was known as the "Body Bag Game" against the Washington Redskins. It was known as this because the Eagles defense knocked out both the starter and back up QBs. Half back Brian Mitchell (who also played for the Eagles) handled the QB duties for the rest of the game. -Former Eagles coach Ray Rhodes was hired by the Eagles in 1995 after being a coordinator for the 49ers. |
