Week 12 Studs and Duds
Studs
For the third week in a row, RB Brian Westbrook has broken 100 yards rushing. Westbrook averaged 6.2 yards a carry in a game in which he had 124 yards on the ground and was the Eagles' leading receiver with 46 yards. All the more reason he is commonly referred to as the ultimate weapon.
A big reason for Westbrook's recent success has been the play of RG Shawn Andrews. After breaking his leg in 2004, he made the Pro Bowl in 2005 and appears headed there again. Andrews has done a phenomenal job on the line this year for the Eagles and Sunday was no different.
It's not often a QB makes the list in a losing effort, but the Eagles' struggles were not the fault of Jeff Garcia. Garcia went 19-23 for 140 yards with 2 TDs and 0 INT. Garcia's mobility helped him have an effective and efficient day. Also, remember that Garcia was not the one calling the plays.
Duds
What has happened to MLB Jeremiah Trotter? Once one of the most feared linebackers in the game, Trotter has been trampled this year. As the MLB, Trotter gets the majority of the blame for the atrocious display their running defense put on last night. Unfortunately, this has been the story all year for Trotter.
LB Matt McCoy is playing hurt, but even before he got hurt he still didn't play too well. McCoy got absolutely blown up this entire game by rookie Joseph Addai. When he wasn't missing tackles, McCoy was easily fooled on cutbacks. Did we really use a second round pick on this guy?
Sensing a trend here? Dhani Jones has been consistently bad all year. It's not really that Jones is a horrible player, Jones is usually just outmatched and that was the case again last night. Dhani Jones might not be in Eagles' green much longer.
Honorable Mention
Studs
CB Lito Sheppard has done a fantastic job in the backfield this year. Last night, Lito literally stole a pass away from surehanded receiver Marvin Harrison that would set up an Eagles TD. A great play by Lito.
When the linebackers would blow their coverage, SS Sean Considine was often there to make the open field tackle or push the runner out of bounds. Considine really did some damage control last night.
Duds
The WR Pass was a stupid play call by Andy/Marty, but why did Baskett throw it into triple coverage? This was a lousy decision by Hank Baskett that led to a costly interception.
How odd is this? After he missed the team's flight, the Eagles chose not to dress DT Brodrick Bunkley for this game. You know things are going bad when your first round pick is oversleeping.
DE Darren Howard makes almost twice as much money as his counter part Trent Cole. So why is it that we've heard Cole's name more than Howard's this year? Ever since Week 5, Darren Howard for the most part has been non-existent.
