Pleasant Hill Baptist Church came full circle in the 2005, relocating to a picturesque hill just outside of Blanchard and not far from where the church began nearly 70 years ago. Twenty-six charter members organized PHBC in September on 1937 and construction soon began on a 28' x 30' building located near the present intersection of highways 9 & 62. The church moved into Blanchard proper in 1942, constructing an auditorium on Main St. in 1952, adding an educational wing in1963, and a gym - kitchen - classroom building in the early '80's. Guided by such Godly men as first pastor Charley E. Smith and longtime pastor Elzie Periman, PHBC has remained strong and vibrant through the decades.

Pastor David Pickard, a Blanchard native, returned home with his family in 1997 and the church entered an exciting new time of growth under his leadership as the new century dawned. Funds were raised and several different plans considered as the church family began to push the limitations of the existing facilities . Then, as He always does, God provided the answer in His own time - a wonderful location directly adjacent to highway 62 became available and was purchased. Soon Pleasant Hill Baptist Church became the first church that visitors will see as the enter Blanchard, a lighthouse on a hillside guiding individuals and families to safety in Jesus Christ.
