This is the Pantheon, originally built by Marcus Agrippa, burned down, and was rebuilt by the emperor Hadrian who added the dome in A.D. 125. The Pantheon's dome is 43.3 meters in diameter, making it the largest cement dome ever built. It was the largest dome in the world until the 1960's (quite an accomplishment). The Pantheon is the best preserved ancient temple in Rome, owing, in part, to its conversion to a Catholic Church.
Due to the large size of the Pantheon, the picture seen here is actually made up of three seperate pictures. Its pretty obvious.

To the left is the Castel Sant'Angelo. Built originally as a tomb for the emperor Hadrian, the castle was later built on top, and used by the Pope for protection. This shot was taken at night from across the Tiber River. This was a very fun place to be at night, as there was a large book fair every night. It was like a large party.
