Hi...welcome to my homepage! My name is Pauline Hagino. I am a dance instructor at a couple of community colleges in the Southern California area and perform in a rhythm-based tap company called Rhapsody in Taps. I am also a closet polymer clay artist.
During the past year and a half, RIT, under the direction of Linda Sohl-Donnell, has been working collaboratively with a Balinese gamelan, Burat Wangi , directed by I Nyoman Wenten. The goal of this collaboration was to interlace the sounds and rhythms of the taps and gamelan and keep the essence of the Balinese dance style in the torso...a challenge in body coordination. The name of this piece is Nusantara, which means "a bridge between islands"...hence the reference to bridging east and west.
