Alaskan Adventure
(Day 14, More Halibut Fishing)

It was nearing the end of our vacation and I had one more trip scheduled for halibut fishing for me and Greg.  Unfortunately, Greg was strained from the previous days trip and did not fish.  I must say, the fishing for halibut using a 3 pound cannonball for a weight leaves a lot to be desired.  To put it bluntly, it was WORK!  Especially when the tide was going out and I had to let out about 450 feet of line to hit the bottom at 150 feet!  Nevertheless, I did manage to catch a couple of halibut, one about 35 lbs. and the other about 15 lbs.

The other boat got fewer but larger fish.  The big one was about 100 lbs.

We had our fish filleted and took the meat to the fish processor (Kasilof Seafoods) in Soldotna.
