PEOPLE FIRST OF VIRGINIA BEACH
2006-2007 ACTIVITIES PAGE
In May 2006, several of our members attended the National SABE Conference in Atlanta, Georgia. We stayed at the Atlanta Hilton and attended many sessions presented by self-advocates from around the United States. We were also able to visit the Coke Museum and Stone Mountain Park. This was an outstanding event, which our members enjoyed greatly.
In 2007, we wrote letters to encourage our State representatives to work for more services for our members, we attended the Mental Health Day Rally in Richmond and delivered the letters when we spoke to our representatives.
We had a picnic in Virginia Beach, with the Chesterfield People First group, including food and outdoor games and basketball. In August we had our annual fund-raising bowl-a-thon. In December we had a party, with food and dancing to close out the year.
We hope to have new and exciting activities with our group during this year.
