| Off the successful finsh in 1961, the Patriots had high expectations. Unfortunately, the road to the AFL East title went through Houston. A defense that performed greater then then the sum of its parts teamed with the offense to lead by Babe Parilli and guided the Patriots to 1st place. A late season trip to 2nd place Houston saw the Patriots come up short by losing the game 21-17, losing first place and losing QB Babe Parilli for the season. QB Tom Yewcic guided the Patriots to three straight victories, but all was for nothing as the Oilers continued to win. The Patriots capped the successful but agonizingly disappointing season with an emabrassing 20-0 loss to winless Oakland Raiders. |
