| The Patriots alternated brilliant victories 45-17 over Denver
and 52-21 over Buffalo with heartbreaking losses 21-20 and 37-30 to a 7-7 New York squad. The up and down play resulted in Lou Saban being fired and replaced by Mike Holovak. The Patriots' offensive attack spearheaded by Gino Cappelletti's receiving and kicking would spark a 7-1-1 finish. Unfortunately the only blemishes on the Patriots record were to the first place Houston Oilers. Cappelletti was the AFL's leading scorer. |
