HAMMERHEADS TRAINING CAMP
The Ocean City Hammerheads enter training camp with question marks at several positions and starting jobs up for grabs.  Here is a position-by-position breakdown of the main position battles going down in Hammerheads camp:

QB - The battle for the starting job seems to be between rookie QB
Colt Brennan and veteran QB Kurt WarnerBrennan has an incredible arm, but lacks experience and has the potential to be inconsistent due to low awareness.  Warner is quite capable of staying consistent, but lacks the arm strength that is typically required in a Biddle offense.  The battle will come down to who plays best in preseason in all likelihood.  QB Drew Stanton is on the outside looking in.

HB - The battle for the starting job - and the majority of the team's carries - is a three-way battle between HB's Deuce McAllister, DeAngelo Williams, and Justin Fargas.  McAllister is a power back and a north-south runner who can run over people.  Williams and Fargas are speed backs who can run to the outside, but also versatile enough to take it up the gut.  The loser of the battle will be the team's third-down back.  Williams appears to have the edge in this battle.

FB - A three-way battle between FB's Owen Schmitt, Derrick Wimbush, and Jon Bradley.  Schmitt and Bradley are primary blockers with little to no threat of running the ball or making catches out of the backfield, while Wimbush is a versatiile, fast fullback who can run, make catches, but lacks the blocking prestige of the other two.  No clear cut winner thus far.  Early indications are that it is Wimbush's to lose.

WR - The only spot up for grabs is the fourth receiver spot, which is between WR's Yamon Figurs and Drew Carter.  Carter, a fast 6'4" target, seems to be the favorite to win the spot, though Figurs is faster and a bigger playmaker.

LT/RT - Marcus McNeil and D'Brickashaw Ferguson are certainly penciled in as the starters at LT and RT - it's just a question of who plays which side.

MLB - The two way battle features young Jordan Beck and veteran Brian Simmons.  Beck is much faster, but is raw.  Simmons is polished, smart, but slower compared to most of the PFL's starting linebackers.  Flip a coin on this matchup.

FS - At free safety, veteran Lawyer Milloy battles young C.J. Wilson for the starting job.  Wilson is raw, so Milloy will likely see considerable playing time regardless of the outcome of the competition.

The Ocean City Hammerheads' front office sat down and drafted a plan - a plan to lead the franchise forward as they prepared to build the roster through the dispersal draft.  The plan started to take shape after the selection of DE Julius Peppers with the sixth overall selection in the first round.  Tagged as a "Force of Nature", Peppers is arguably the best defensive end in the PFL because of his unique combination of size, speed, strength, agility, and acceleration.  Truly, a rare specimen, and one that every team could greatly benefit from having lead their team.  With their second round pick, the Hammerheads selected WR Calvin Johnson - a 6'5", 239 pound, 21-year old phenom who has the deep speed to consistently pose severe matchup problems for many of the league's top cornerbacks.  Head coach/GM Joshua Biddle couldn't say enough about Johnson and his abilities: "Calvin is an incredible athlete.  He's as fast and has as good of hands as many of the top receivers in this league, while being built like a linebacker to boot."  The Hammerheads addressed their receiving corps again in round three by drafting WR Lee Evans with the 54th overall pick.  Evans, known to be a burner with his exceptional downfield speed, is expected to immediately become the team's primary deep threat while providing an excellent one-two punch with WR Calvin Johnson.  With their fourth round pick, the Hammerheads selected rookie DE Vernon GholstonGholston is a speedy defensive end with excellent agility and acceleration, making him an ideal starter opposite Peppers.  The Hammerheads turned to their offensive trench with their fifth round pick, selecting OT Marcus McNeil - a 22-year old phenom who should be the centerpiece of the Hammerheads' offensive line for a very long time.  With their sixth round pick, the Hammerheads selected rookie DT Kentwan Balmer, a very potent pass rusher from the defensive tackle position.  Rush tackles are fairly rare, but the Hammerheads' front office has high expectations for Balmer.  With their next two picks (7th and 8th round), the Hammerheads went for secondary help - specifically at corner - selecting CB Kelly Jennings and rookie CB Terrence Wheatley.  Both corners are fairly small relative to past corners in Biddle's defenses, but both are capable of making an impact.  Jennings is more polished, but Wheatley is very fast and can keep up with the league's fastest wideouts.  In the ninth round, the Hammerheads selected D'Brickashaw Ferguson to bring in another blue chip, 22-year old prospect.  It is likely that Ferguson will start at right tackle.  In the 10th round, the Hammerheads went back to the secondary and selected CB Jack Ikegwuono - a raw, 6'1" rookie.  The 11th round selection of OG Chilo Rachal showed an emphasis on building a strong interior offensive line to complement the two top-tier offensive tackles.  Rachal, a rookie, is already very skilled for his age and should be one of the better guards in the league.  With their 12th round pick, the Hammerheads returned to the defensive side and selected their third defensive end of the draft, Jarvis MossMoss is another fast defensive end who has the potential to develop into a talented pass rushing threat.
The Hammerheads ended the raucous of the fans in the 13th round when they chose their quarterback - QB Colt Brennan, a rookie out of Hawaii.  Brennan features a very strong arm and has the potential to utilize the speed that the Hammerheads' offense appears to be built upon.  "We expect big things from Brennan" head coach/GM Joshua Biddle said, "we apparently made the pick at the right time because we found out after the pick was made that another team would have taken him no more than ten picks later in the same round.  We pulled the trigger at the right time apparently."  In the 14th round, the Hammerheads drafted another wide receiver in Yamon Figurs, but Figurs was also drafted to be the team's primary return specialist.  Figurs is a very fast, elusive runner with the ball and Biddle places a heavy emphasis on a solid special teams unit with a top-notch returner.  Figurs "figures" to fit the bill.  With their pick in the 15th round, the Hammerheads selected CB Richard Marshall, a solid, young corner who should compete for a spot in the nickle or dime.  WIth their 16th round draft pick, the Hammerheads selected their first linebacker, Napoleon Harris.   Harris has decent size and above average speed, which should allow him to roam the field and make plays, as well as cover tight ends.  He is expected to play linebacker on the strong side.  With their 17th round pick in the draft, the Hammerheads addressed the center position by drafting C Dan KoppenKoppen is a solid veteran and is the elder statesman of the offensive line.  With their 18th round draft pick, the Hammerheads selected Darren Sharper, who is expected to start at strong safety for the Hammerheads.  Sharper is a grizzly veteran and is expected to help lead the defense.  A decline in skill hasn't become apparent with Sharper thus far, and the organization has faith that he will be a great player and leader.  The Hammerheads addressed the wide receiver position with their 19th round pick, selecting young, speedy WR Anthony Gonzalez to play out of the slot.  TE Leonard Pope, a raw talent at tight end, was selected with the Hammerheads' 20th round draft pick.  Pope, who is a tall target at 6'7", also has shown solid catching ability and is a big-bodied blocker.  He is expected to be the team's starting tight end on opening day.  The 21st round draft pick for the Hammerheads, WR Drew Carter, is another big target for the Hammerheads' quarterback to throw the ball to.  Carter is a 6'4" receiver who runs surprisingly fast and is expected to be a major special teams contributor as well.  With their 22nd round draft pick, the Hammerheads selected LB Jordan Beck, a speedy, young linebacker who will have the opportunity to compete for a starting job at linebacker.  DT Brandon Mebane was selected with the Hammerheads' 23rd round draft pick - an agile, yet strong defensive tackle.  Mebane is expected to start alongside Kentwan Balmer.  Veteran linebacker Roosevelt Colvin was added to the defense with the team's 24th round draft pick.  Colvin's speed and football IQ made him a viable selection as an outside linebacker to what appears to be a young defensive unit.  The Hammerheads' 25th round draft pick, safety C.J. Wilson, is viewed as a project who may have an opportunity to start at free safety.  Among the fastest safeties in the league, Wilson has the raw ability to help take away the deep ball from opposing quarterbacks.  With their 26th round draft pick, the Hammerheads selected OG/OT Willie ColonColon is expected to move inside to play one of the guard positions, and his selection completed the process of finding the probable starting five on the offensive line.  With their 27th round pick, the Hammerheads finally selected a runningback - the very last team to do so - selecting HB Deuce McAllisterMcAllister was the best runningback available and is a pure bruiser and a devastatingly powerful runner.  The Hammerheads drafted a complement to him with their 28th round draft pick, selecting young, elusive HB DeAngelo WilliamsWilliams is expected to get at least half of the available carries per game, with Deuce likely getting the other half.  With their 29th round draft pick, the Hammerheads selected K Stephen Gostkowski, a young, strong-legged kicker who can reliably put points on the board.  With their 30th round draft pick, the Hammerheads went back to the defensive line and selected DE Quentin Moses, a solid defensive end who has the potential and upside to start for most teams.  He's almost guarenteed to see some playing time.  With their 31st round draft pick, the Hammerheads looked for a solid lead blocker and decided on young FB Owen SchmittSchmitt is raw, but has decent speed and blocking ability and has a good shot at winning the starting job.  With their 32nd round draft pick, the Hammerheads selected a third runningback - Justin Fargas - another shifty runner with speed who will compete with HB DeAngelo Williams for playing time.  The loser of the battle in training camp will likely see time as the team's third down runningback.  With their 33rd round draft pick, the Hammerheads selected TE Randal Williams, a small, yet fast tight end with potential to be a threat in the passing game.  His questionable hands and poor blocking ability is what likely caused Williams to be drafted so low.  With their 34th round draft pick, the Hammerheads selected P Brandon Fields, a young, strong-legged punter who's leg strength can help the Hammerheads win the field position battle.  With their 35th round draft pick, the Hammerheads selected LB Chaun Thompson, a fast linebacker who is verstaile enough to play either inside or outside.  With their 36th round draft pick, the Hammerheads selected CB David Irons, a decent cornerback who has upside as a special teamer due to his sound tackling ability.  With their 37th round draft pick, the Hammerheads selected DT Jason Jones, a defensive tackle with good agility and moderate strength.  He may see some time as a tackle in passing situations.  With their 38th round draft pick, the Hammerheads selected LB Andre Frazier, a 6'5" linebacker with major potential who was drafted primarily as a project.  Depending on how he develops, he may see some playing time this season with the potential to start down the road.  The Hammerheads went linebacker again with their 39th round draft pick, selecting another 6'5" linebacker with speed in LB Dan CodyCody is another versatile linebacker who could find playing time at either outside or inside linebacker.  With their 40th round draft pick, the Hammerheads selected DT Jimmy Wilkerson, a rush defensive tackle who is only viable in pass rushing situations.  He lacks ideal strength for the position, but has the speed, agility, and acceleration to potentially get to the quarterback when running is not a threat.  With their 41st round draft pick, the Hammerheads drafted another young quarterback, QB Drew Stanton, who may be in the competition for the starting quarterback job.  Stanton is known more for his accuracy than his arm strength, but has the potential to grow into a starter with some seasoning.  He should be a solid backup for Brennan.  With their 42nd round draft pick, the Hammerheads selected safety Willie Andrews, a raw, but fast safety who will likely backup SS Darren Sharper and play special teams.  With their 43rd round draft pick, the Hammerheads selected CB/S Mike RumphRumph doesn't possess the speed to match up well against the league's fast wide receivers, making him a likely candidate to compete for time at safety.  With their 44th round draft pick, the Hammerheads selected FB Derrick WimbushWimbush is a fast fullback, though his blocking skills are not as strong as Owen Schmitt's.  With their 45th round draft pick, the Hammerheads selected QB Kurt Warner, a veteran quarterback with good awareness who may be given the opportunity to win the starting job.  With two young quarterbacks on the roster, a veteran presence is certainly important in their development.  With their 46th round draft pick, the Hammerheads selected linebacker Keyaron Fox, a fairly fast linebacker with some size, but is raw and another project.  He will compete for time at one of the outside linebacker positions.  With their 47th round draft pick, the Hammerheads selected OT Jordan Black.  He is expected to be the primary backup at offensive tackle.  With their 48th round draft pick, the Hammerheads selected FB Jon Bradley, a slow fullback but a powerful blocker.  He will have the opportunity to compete for the starting job at the fullback position.  With their 49th round draft pick, the Hammerheads selected rookie CB Trae Williams, a cornerback with solid speed and tackling ability.  He will likely find a home on special teams in kick coverage and as a punt coverage gunner.  With their 50th overall draft pick, the Hammerheads selected safety Lawyer MilloyMilloy, 32, is a veteran who will provide some leadership in the secondary with fellow vet Darren SharperMilloy will likely split time with young safety C.J. Wilson.  With their 51st round draft pick, the Hammerheads selected C Casey WiegmannWiegmann will serve as the backup center to C Dan Koppen.  With their final draft pick - their 52nd rounder - the Hammerheads selected veteran MLB Brian SimmonsSimmons will have the opportunity to compete for playing time and a starting job at one of the linebacker positions.
HAMMERHEADS RETURN TO AQUAMARINE STADIUM
Ownership and Coaching Staff Remains Intact as Head Coach/GM Biddle Returns
After six seasons of no football in Ocean City, a new era of PFL football has spurned the Hammerheads' return to the Jersey coastline and a renovated Aquamarine Stadium.  The Hammerheads will bring head coach/GM Joshua Biddle - fresh off of his tenure with the Los Angeles Cowboys - in to act as head coach, general manager, and team president, with his coaching staff remaining the same.  Joey Fuller will be offensive coordinator and quarterback coach, Keith Bleeker will be defensive coordinator, and Chris Bostic will be special teams coordinator.  In the front office, Joe Staab will act as vice-president and director of payroll.
     A statement by
Josh Biddle to the press said, "we look forward to the challenge of building a winning organization, and that starts by the solid foundation of ownership, front office personnel, and coaches, all of which we have.  Now onto the next step, filling out the roster with hungry individuals who want to win.  We eagerly await the challenge."
