| After selecting DE Demarcus Ware with the sixth overall pick, the Hammerheads didn't resort to "down time" to waste time away. Instead, they were in trade talks with many teams and came to an agreement with the Madison Silverbacks on a deal that sends WR Mark Clayton to the 'Backs for HB Larry Brown. The running game was a glaring weakness for the franchise last season, so a running back with a solid skill set is a positive step towards improving on last season's 5-13 record. |
| The trading didn't end for the Hammerheads after acquiring Brown, as they would trade their 3rd round draft pick to the New York Thunderbears for a 1st round draft pick in 2014. Head Coach/GM Josh Biddle would then proceed to trade the 4th & 5th round draft picks from this draft plus their week 1 & 2 Free Agent Picks to the Dodge City Outlaws for their 1st round pick and the Silverbacks' 3rd round selection, which was acquired in a trade by the Outlaws earlier in the day. So while the Hammerheads addressed a few needs, they appear to be waiting until 2014 to become a force. |
