| The Federation of Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays is a tax-exempt, non-profit organization serving more than 70,000 members. Affiliates are located in more than 400 communities across the United States and more than 11 other countries. |

Who are we? |
|
|
|
Our members are the parents, families and friends of gay, lesbian, bi-sexual and transgendered people: |
|
|
| They are also our sons and daughters, our nieces and nephews, our brothers and sisters, our long-time friends, and our neighbors. We have learned that gay people are everywhere, in every time and place, in every race, culture, religion and occupation. We know them as good people who want to live healthy and productive lives, but who often are looked down on by others. |
|
|
|
Our members are also your gay children, siblings and friends, who tell us: |
|
|
|
For us being gay is natural and normal. We are healthy and same. We were not taught to be gay. We were not recruited. Our affectional orientation is not a result of the parenting skills of our parents nor the influence of our teachers. It is not a choice, it is not a lifestyle, and it is not a sin. We cherish our families and want to be a part of their lives. We want to live in long-term relationships. We yearn for a time when we will not have to hide or to be silent about who we are. |

PFLAG/Lansing is a volunteer, non-profit organization.� We depend upon the financial assistance and volunteer efforts of those seeking to help us fulfill our mission.� Becoming a member of PFLAG/Lansing will help us continue to provide support, education and advocacy for gay, lesbian, bi-sexual and transgendered persons, their families and friends. |
