What is PFLAG? PFLAG is a national support, education, and advocacy group for parents, family, and friends of gays, lesbians, bisexuals, and transgendereds as well as a group for gays, lesbians, bisexuals, and transgendereds. |

What does PFLAG do? PFLAG promotes the health and well-being of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender persons, their families, and friends through: support, to cope with an adverse society; education, to enlighten an ill-informed public; and advocacy, to end discrimination and to secure equal civil rights. Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG) provides opportunity for dialogue about sexual orientation and gender identity, and acts to create a society that is healthy and respectful of human diversity. PFLAG is nonprofit and not affiliated with any religious or political institutions. |

When did PFLAG start and who started it? In 1972, Jeanne Manford started an international movement when she marched with her son Mortie in New York's Gay Pride Parade. Enraged that her son had been beaten at a gay rights protest two months before, she carried a sign at the Pride march that said "Parents of Gays: Unite in Support of Our Children." |

How big is PFLAG? PFLAG has grown to over 500 chapters nationwide and 200,000 members, supporters, and affiliates. PFLAG is the largest grassroots-based family organization of its kind. |

How do you join PFLAG Enid? Just show up. We provide a safe environment where you can participate in sharing, supporting, learning, educating, and advocacy. You can come anonymously or introduce yourself to the group, either way you are welcome here. |

Are there other PFLAG chapters in Oklahoma? Yes. Besides the Enid chapter, there are chapters in Edmond, Lawton, Muskogee, Norman, Oklahoma City, Stillwater, and Tulsa. |
