Peter Hunt's Home Page

Welcome to my Home Page.
I don't really know why I've put this up, given that the chances that anyone
I know (or anyone who would want to meet me) will see it. After all, there's
a few other home pages out there. But what the hell; if one person from
my sixth grade class sees it, remembers me and sends me an
email, I guess it's worth the effort.
By the way, I apologise in advance for the page being so boring. I'll be
sticking some links and (non-animated) images in when I get the time.
Professional Stuff
- In 1989 I received a B.Sc. (Hons. Comp.Sci.) from the
University of Queensland,
situated in Brisbane, Australia.
- From 1990 to 1996 I worked for
Digital Equipment Corporation,
in their Wide Area Networks software engineering group, also
in Australia. I worked on the development of X.25, ISDN and
PPP products for Digital UNIX.
- From September 1996 to December 1997 I've was a member of technical
staff at Ipsilon Networks Inc., in Sunnyvale, California, USA.
In December 1997, Ipsilon was acquired by
Nokia, and so I'm
working for them now (still in Sunnyvale, CA).
The work I've been doing has varied greatly, and while I was hired
originally for my WAN protocols experience, I've ended up doing all
sorts of kernel networking code. Most recently, I've worked on
a clustered firewall implementation.
- I've worked on the Internet Draft for the
Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol.
Here's my resume, for those who want more details.
Personal Stuff
- For those who are interested, here's
my life story (so far).
- I'm married to Laura Xu, a chinese expat and
co-Nokia-worker. I live with her and our son, Xiayi. Here are some
family photos.
- We enjoy travelling, although we've yet to go anywhere really
adventurous. Check out our holiday snaps.
- I listen to a lot of music. In the car, and at home. Usually loud.
Here are my favourite bands.
- I enjoy swimming and hiking. Swimming I do every morning; hiking I do
when I can get up to Yosemite.
- I read a bit, to relax. Mostly bestselling blockbuster authors; I
don't have very sophisticated tastes. Here are my
favourite books and authors.
