Int. Dawsons Room (Night of Day 1)
Dawson is leaning up against the headboard of the bed, and Joey is sitting cross-legged down by his feet. They are watching Armageddon. Dawson watches Joey watch the movie. Sensing him watching her, Joey turns around.
Joey: What?
Dawson: (snapping out of it) Nothing.
Joey: No what?
Dawson: I was just thinking how (searching for a word) nice this is.
Joey gives him a little smile.
Joey: (turning back to the TV) I still dont get why we are watching this. I mean this movie basically sucks.
Dawson: Well clichd, and unrealistic storylines aside, its actually an enjoyable movie if you dont overanalyze it.
Joey: (turning back to Dawson) Dawson Leary not overanalyzing a movie. I never thought Id live to see the day.
Dawson chuckles.
Joey: Be honest Dawson this has to do with some new Liv Tyler obsession you have right?
Dawson: You got me.
Joey turns back to the movie and groans. She picks up the remote, and clicks the TV off.
Dawson: What? Its not that bad.
Joey: Yes Dawson it is.
Joey stands up.
Dawson: Youre leaving? We can watch something else.
Joey: Sorry Dawson, but its getting late.
Dawson: (slightly hurt) Since when is nine o clock late?
Joey: Since I have a stack of college, and scholarship applications to plow through.
Dawson: (standing up as well) Hows that going?
Joey: All right. I mean its exciting and everything, but its also a lot of work, and quite honestly Im not even sure where I want to go yet.
Dawson: Me neither.
Joey: Come on Dawson youve known since you were five that you wanted to go to film school.
Dawson: Im not so sure anymore. I mean you dont have to go to film school to be a filmmaker.
Joey: (shocked) Dawson are you thinking about not going to college?
Dawson: No, I mean I will apply. I just dont know if itll be to film school necessarily.
Joey: Well whatever you do, I know youll be great at it.
Dawson: Thanks.
They smile at each other, and Joey turns towards the door.
Dawson: Jo.
Joey turns back around.
Joey: (nervously) Yeah.
Dawson: I know youre busy with college and other stuff, but I was thinking maybe youd like to help out a little on my new film.
Joey: (smiling) Sure Dawson. Id love to.
Dawson: Great.
Joey: See ya.
Joey walks out of the room, and Dawson smiles as he turns the movie back on.
Fade to credits...
Act 1
Int. Capeside High (Morning of Day 2)
Jack and Joey are sitting in the computer lab. They are working at separate terminals right next to each other. Jack is concentrating on his screen, but working happily. Joey on the other hand is staring blankly at her screen completely frustrated. She leans over to look at Jacks screen.
Jack: (looking over at her) What?
Joey: How come yours looks so good, and mine looks like crap?
Jack looks at her screen, and he tries to suppress his laughter.
Joey: Its not funny Jack. Its due this afternoon, and it still looks well like...
Jack: (cutting her off) A Picasso on crack.
Joey punches Jack lightly in the arm.
Joey: Help me Jack.
Jack rubs his arm lightly where she hit him.
Jack: Youre not doing your transitions right. The timing is wrong, and its making the animation choppy.
Joey: (sighing) I cant wait till were through with the computer graphics portion of the class, and we can get back to some good old-fashioned art away from these machines.
Jack: Spoken like a true technophobe.
Joey: (defensive) I am not a technophobe. I just think that art shouldnt be so calculated, and technical. It should come from your heart, and be about passion, and raw emotion. Its not about the end product but about exposing your soul, and opening your heart to discover things you never knew were there.
Jack is staring at her like shes crazy as she gives her impassioned speech.
Joey: You just cant get that from a computer. Its so sterile and impersonal. Creating art should be an experience that involves all your senses sight, touch, sound, and smell.
Jack: (with an amused smile) Taste?
Joey: (glaring at him) All Im saying is for me art is a way to express myself in a way I cant with words for whatever reason, and I find it impossible to do that on a computer.
Jack: Fair enough, but I actually like it.
Joey: (turning back to her computer in dismay) Cause youre good at it.
Jack: Here let me.
Jack leans over and starts messing with Joeys computer. Joey backs away as Jack works on her project. She is watching Jack when Jen walks up.
Jen: Hey guys.
Jack: (not looking up) Hey.
Joey: Hey Jen.
Jen: What are you guys doing?
Joey: Jack is trying to make something of my art project.
Jen looks at the computer screen.
Jen: (with a confused look on her face) Whats it supposed to be?
Joey groans, Jack chuckles, and Jen giggles.
Joey: Im so glad my ineptness and probable failure is so funny to you two.
Jack: (looking up) There you go.
Joey looks down at the screen. Her animation of a blooming flower is on the screen.
Jen: Thats actually pretty.
Joey: Thanks Jack.
Jack: Youre welcome.
Joey presses save.
Jen: So did you hear about the assembly we have to go to?
Jack: Yeah.
Joey: (nodding she replies sarcastically) The Future is Now catchy title.
Jen: Yeah nothing like shoving it down our throats before weve even had the time to digest our breakfast.
Andie walks up.
Jack: And reminding those of us who arent lucky enough to know what the hell we want to do in the future feel like losers.
Andie: Way to be motivated guys.
Jen: (rolling her eyes) We cant all be like you Andie.
Andie: No, but its not a bad idea to start thinking about the future. College application deadlines are quickly approaching.
Jack: Only for those perky, over achievers applying to the Ivy league. The rest of us schmucks have till January.
Jen: Who are you calling a schmuck, McPhee?
Joey is standing off to the side biting her lip and not saying anything.
Andie: Way to put your foot in your mouth Jack.
Jack: (turning back to his computer) Im just going to work on my project.
Jen: You do that, before you start choking.
Jack chuckles.
Jen: I need to check my email. Joey, are you done?
Joey: (nodding) Yeah I have to get going.
Joey grabs her backpack, and disk.
Joey: See ya later.
Jack: Bye.
Jen: See ya Joey.
Joey walks away, and out of the computer room. Jen sits down at the computer, and starts logging in to her email.
Jack: So you guys still arent getting along?
Andie: No we are. Its just weird is all.
Jack: Its not about Pacey is it? I mean I thought you were over that.
Andie: I am. Its...well we had this weird encounter a couple of weeks ago. It was nothing just a misunderstanding.
Jack: (looking up) About?
Andie: (quietly) Daniel.
Jack raises his eyebrow, and Jen looks up.
Jen: (confused) Whos Daniel?
Jack: Andies...what is he exactly Andie?
Andie: (pointedly) My friend.
Jack: (turning to Jen) Andies friend.
Jen looks at them curiously before turning back to the computer terminal.
Andie: Jack when are you going to let up?
Jack: Hmmm try never.
Jen: (frustrated, and angry) Ugh.
Jack and Andie turn to her.
Jack: What?
Jen: Henry sent me another email.
Jack: Whats this one say?
Jen: I love you. I can change I just need another chance blah blah blah, the exact same as all the previous ones. Why doesnt he just leave me alone? Its hard enough without all this.
Jack: (putting his arm around her shoulder) Break ups are never easy.
Andie: No theyre not.
Jen: I didnt expect it to be easy, but he has this way of making me feel like the bad guy.
Jack: Dont let him get to you Jen.
Jen: (resting her head on Jacks shoulder) I cant help it.
Jack: I know.
Jen sits back up, and clicks the screen closed. She shoves her chair back.
Jen: I have to go. Later McPhees.
Andie: Bye Jen.
Jack: See ya.
Jen walks out, and Andie sits in her chair.
Andie: Is it really that bad?
Jack: Well hes been sending her flowers, letters, and emails every day since they broke up three weeks ago.
Andie: Poor Jen.
Jack: Yeah, so Daniel?
Andie: I have to go do this thing. (she stands up) Bye Jack.
Andie walks away.
Int. Capeside High (Day 2)
Dawson is walking down the hallway of the high school. From behind him he hears Henry call his name.
Henry: Dawson.
Dawson turns around slowly as Henry approaches.
Dawson: Hey Henry.
Henry: I talked to Mrs. Freckerling, and she told me you were filming at her house this week.
Dawson: (uncomfortable) Um yeah I am.
Henry: Well my offer still stands if you need some help.
Dawson: You know what Henry I actually have all the help I need, but thank you.
Henry: (his face falling) Okay. I just thought I would offer seeing as how (with emphasis on I) I was the one who introduced you to Mrs. Freckerling.
Dawson: (stammering slightly) You know maybe I could use the help.
Henry: (smiling) Cool. Ill probably be hanging around there after school anyways doing some work around the house.
Dawson: (forced) Great.
Henry: See ya Dawson.
Henry leaves, and Dawson leans his head against the locker.
Dawson: (mumbling to himself) Jens going to kill me.
Tallulah comes up next to him.
Tallulah: I thought you learned your lesson last time.
Dawson looks up surprised, and embarrassed.
Dawson: What?
Tallulah: So what did this locker do to you?
Dawson: Nothing, I was just...(his voice trails off)
Tallulah smiles at him waiting for his explanation.
Dawson: This is getting embarrassing. I dont usually bang my head up against solid objects.
Tallulah: Thats good to know. It might cause permanent damage.
Dawson: (smiling weakly) Im Dawson by the way.
Tallulah: Well Dawson by the way, Im Tallulah.
Dawson: Pretty name.
Tallulah: Thanks.
Theres a pause, as neither knows what to say.
Dawson: So are you going to the assembly?
Tallulah: (shaking her head) Its only for seniors.
Dawson: (surprised) Oh youre...
Tallulah: (cutting him off) A junior.
Dawson: Right.
Another pause.
Tallulah: See ya around Dawson.
Dawson: Yeah see ya.
Tallulah walks away, and Dawson watches her.
Int. Capeside High (Day 2)
Pacey is getting a drink from the drinking fountain. He looks up to see Jen walking by.
Pacey: Hey Lindley.
Jen: (stopping) Hey Pace.
Pacey: Whats up?
Jen: Just planning my escape from this asinine future assembly.
Pacey: (slinging his arm around her shoulders) Can I join you?
Jen: (nodding towards Joey walking towards them) I think your girlfriend might object.
Pacey looks up, and he smiles as Joey approaches.
Pacey: Hey Potter.
Joey: Hey guys.
Jen: Hi Joey.
Pacey drops his arm from Jens shoulder, and pulls Joey to him. He kisses her forehead, and holds her loosely.
Joey: Were you guys heading to the assembly?
Jen: Well...
Pacey: (shrugging) Not exactly.
Joey gives Pacey a look as she steps out of his arms.
Joey: Well I have to go drop this off in the guidance counselors office.
Pacey: What is it?
Joey: (smiling at him) Just some stuff for some scholarship applications.
Pacey: (putting his arm around her waist) Well I was just headed that way.
Joey: (removing his arm) Wrong you were headed to the assembly.
Pacey groans.
Joey: (taking his hand and squeezing it lightly) Save me a seat.
Pacey nods, and Joey leans in and gives him a kiss. Paceys hand wraps into her hair, and he holds her tightly as they kiss. Finally, Jen clears her throat. They pull apart.
Joey: (looking down) Sorry. I have to go do that thing. (turning to look into Paceys eyes) Ill see you in a few minutes.
Joey holds his gaze for a moment before walking away. Pacey watches her leave with a smile on his face.
Jen: You are so whipped.
Pacey: (whipping his head to stare at Jen) Excuse me.
Jen: I mean come on. If Joey said jump, youd say...
Pacey: (interjecting) Shut up Jen.
Jen: (chuckling) Shes got you wrapped around her (Pacey silences her with a look of death) Lets go. I wouldnt want to be responsible for your girlfriend beating you up later.
Pacey: You know that might actually...
Jen: (cutting him off) Dont even say it.
Jen grabs Pacey's hand, and they walk off to the assembly.
Int. Capeside High (Day 2)
Joey is standing at the counter in the Guidance Counselors office.
Secretary: Well get this taken care of for you Joey.
Joey: Thank you.
Joey turns around. Daniel is standing behind her.
Joey: Hey.
Daniel: Hey you. Long time no see.
Joey: (shrugging) Yeah well Ive been busy. You know the whole college thing.
Daniel: Yeah the college thing. Highly overrated if you ask me.
Joey: Well not all of us have our talents and charm to rely on to get by in life.
Daniel: You think Im charming?
Joey: Did I say that?
Daniel: Yeah you did.
Joey: Let me clarify. Delusions of talent and charm to rely on.
Daniel: Now whos the charming one?
Joey: (giving him a look) I have to get to the assembly.
Daniel: Right the assembly, which Im sure will just be so utterly inspirational, and helpful.
Secretary: Daniel, Mr. Milo is ready to see you.
Daniel: Well my warden calls, so I guess Ill see ya around you know in another couple of weeks.
Joey: (shrugging) Maybe if youre lucky.
Daniel chuckles before walking into Mr. Milo office.
Mr. Milo: Have a seat.
Daniel sits in the chair.
Daniel: So whats this weeks verdict?
Mr. Milo: Youre doing well Daniel. All your teachers had good things to say about your work, as well as your behavior.
Daniel: Good to know, so does this mean we can stop these little meetings.
Mr. Milo: Daniel you know thats not possible.
Daniel: So much for second chances.
Mr. Milo: You have been given a second chance Daniel. You should be thankful for that.
Daniel: (sarcastically) Oh Im thankful.
Mr. Milo: You can go. I want to see you at the assembly.
Daniel: Ill be there with bells on.
Daniel stands up.
Mr. Milo: And Daniel, dont forget your appointment next week.
Daniel: How could I forget? Its the highlight of my month.
Daniel walks out of the office.
Int. Capeside High Gymnasium (Day 2)
Pacey and Jen walk into the half filled gymnasium. Jen looks around searching for her friends.
Jen: Looks like were the first ones here.
Pacey: (stopping) By first, who else are you expecting to sit with us?
Jen: Well Jack, maybe Andie, and Dawson.
Pacey: (groaning) Maybe Ill just sit in the back.
Pacey starts to walk away, but Jen grabs his arm.
Jen: I dont think so Pace.
Pacey: Look Dawson doesnt want to sit with me.
Jen: How do you know?
Pacey gives her a look.
Jen: Okay so maybe its not high on his list of things Id like to do today, but I for one am tired of this two sides mentality. You are my friend, and Dawson is my friend, and Im not going to spend the rest of this year dancing between the two of you, and I have a feeling Joey doesnt want to either. So knock the damn chip off your shoulder, and sit down.
Jen pushes Pacey down onto the closest bleacher, and sits next to him. Pacey is sitting on the aisle with Jen next to him. Jack walks up to them.
Jack: Guys.
Jen: Hey Jack.
Pacey nods his head as Jack sits next to Jen.
Jack: Are we ready for the fun?
Jen: Thrilled to no end.
Jack: (nodding to Pacey who has a sullen look on his face) Whats his deal?
Jen: Hes just not really looking forward to this assembly.
Jack: Join the club.
Andie walks up.
Andie: Join what?
Jen: The anywhere but here party.
Andie: I see the mood hasnt changed any.
Jack: Did you really expect it to?
Andie gives Jack a look before turning to Pacey.
Andie: Hi Pacey.
Pacey: Hey Andie.
Andie: Do you guys have room for one more?
Pacey: Yeah of course.
Jack, Jen and Pacey slide over on the bench to make room for Andie to sit on the end.
Andie: So I hear that they are having a college admittance expert here to talk to us.
All three heads turn to look at her with baffled looks.
Andie: Okay so you dont care.
Jen: Not really, but hey at least we get out of class.
Jack: This is true.
Andie looks up and spots Dawson walking into the gym. He sees the gang sitting with Pacey and stops. He looks a little confused and hesitant. Andie smiles and waves him over. Pacey looks over and inwardly groans. Andie nudges him in the ribs. Jack and Jen share a nervous look. Dawson makes his way over.
Andie: Scoot over.
Everyone shifts over to allow a space for Dawson on the aisle.
Andie: Hey Dawson.
Dawson: Hey guys.
Jen and Jack: Hey.
Dawson sits down, and there is a nervous silence, as no one knows what to say.
Jen: So I hear there is going to be a college admittance expert here to talk to us.
Andie, Jack, and Pacey look at her strangely. Jen shrugs. Dawson notices theres something hes missing.
Dawson: Yeah I heard that too.
Silence again. Dawsons eyes turn to the door. Andie follows his gaze, followed by Pacey, Jen, and Jack. Joey stands at the door. She stops when she sees everyone sitting together. She takes a noticeable breath, and makes her way over. She stands by the aisle.
Joey: Hey.
Andie, Jack, Jen: Hey.
Dawson: Hey Joey.
Joey smiles nervously and looks at Pacey who is watching her expectantly. Andie notices Daniel walk into the gym.
Joey: Is there any room for me?
Andie: (standing up) You can have my seat.
Andie walks away as everyone watches her a little confused. Joey walks by Dawson and sits in the vacant space between Pacey and Dawson. She smiles at Dawson nervously before turning her gaze to Pacey. She smiles, and rests her hand on his thigh. A little smile appears on Paceys face.
Joey: (very low) Hey.
Pacey covers her hand with his and squeezes.
Jen: (turning to Jack) Whos that?
Jen nods towards Andie who is sitting talking to Daniel across the gym.
Jack: That would be Daniel.
Jen: (noticeably impressed) Man she has good taste.
The sound of tapping on a microphone shifts everyones attention to the front of the gym. Mr. Milo is standing in front of a microphone.
Mr. Milo: Welcome seniors. Im sure I dont have to tell you that this is your last year at Capeside High. After graduation you will move on to make your place in the world. No matter what it is you choose to do after high school it will take planning, which is why we are here today. The future is no longer far away. Your future starts now with the choices you will make in the next few months. It is our job to assure that you have all the information, and resources available to you to make these decisions. Today we will have a guest speaker talk to you about the college admission process. Tomorrow you will be meeting with me to discuss your options, and plans. That said, I wont waste any more time, and just introduce our guest speaker. Mrs. Moore.
A middle age woman steps up to the microphone. We see Andie completely focused to the assembly, and Daniel next to her with his head back, and his eyes closed.
Mrs. Moore: Hello. I want you to look around at your friends and classmates.
She pauses as the students look around. Dawson glances briefly at Pacey and Joey.
Mrs. Moore: This time next year you will not be together. You do not choose your high school, but you do choose your college. Which college you choose should be a decision based on your needs, your wants, and your future. Finding a college is a personal journey, and since you are all different with different dreams, hopes and desires, the road to the future will not lead you all to the same place.
Jen: (whispering to Jack) Nothing like stating the obvious.
Jack: (with an amused smile) No kidding.
Paceys hand tightens around Joeys.
Fade out...
Act 2
Int. Charles Apartment (Night Day 2)
The door opens to reveal Jack.
Charles: Hey Jack.
They hug.
Charles: Come in.
Jack follows him into the small apartment.
Charles: So how was your day?
Jack: Okay. (with a laugh) We had this really lame assembly about our future today.
Charles: It was probably the same one I had. Your future isnt a long way off it starts right now, or something like that.
Jack: (laughing) I think thats exactly what they said.
Charles joins in his laughter.
Charles: So predictable.
Their laughter trails off as Jack follows Charles to the couch. Charles sits down, and Jack sits next to him.
Charles: (turning serious) It may be predictable, but its not entirely wrong.
Jack: (nervous) What do you mean?
Charles: I got a letter in the mail today.
Jack: (swallowing noticeably) What about?
Charles: I got the internship Jack.
Jack is surprised and hurt.
Jack: Wow (pause) I mean congratulations.
Charles: Thank you.
Jack: I dont know what else to say I mean I expected this. I knew it was possible, but (pause) what does this mean?
Charles: Well it means Im moving to New York.
Jack: (panicked) When?
Charles: Two weeks.
Jack: (quietly) Two weeks?
Charles: Im so sorry Jack.
Jack: No dont be. This is a great opportunity for you Im just... (his voice trails off)
Charles: What?
Jack: (quietly) Going to miss you.
Charles pulls Jack into a hug.
Charles: Me too Jack. Me too.
Int. Potter B&B (Night Day 2)
Joey is sitting at the desk in her room. She is typing at her computer when there is a knock on the door.
Joey: Come in.
Joey doesnt turn around as Dawson walks in.
Dawson: Hey.
Joey turns around slightly surprised.
Joey: Dawson.
Dawson: Still working on those applications?
Joey: (waving her hand at a stack of papers) I finish one and there is another to be done.
Dawson: But itll pay off.
Joey: It better. So what brings you here Dawson?
Dawson: My film actually.
Joey: (surprised) Your film?
Dawson: You said youd help. I dont want to be pushy or demanding, but...
Joey: (cutting him off) No Dawson (smiling) Of course Ill help.
Dawson: (smiling a relieved smile) Great. Were filming at Mrs. Freckerlings for the next couple of days.
Joey: (confused) Mrs. Freckerling?
Dawson: Yeah, shes this lady that Henry knows, and she is letting us use her house to film at as well as helping out with funding.
Joey: Wow thats great you have funding.
Dawson: Yeah. Its still a shock to me too.
Joey: Well Id be happy to help.
Dawson: Tomorrow evening?
Joey: Ill be there.
Dawson: Great, thanks Joey.
Joey smiles. A silent pause.
Dawson: Well Ill let you get back to your applications.
Dawson turns around to leave.
Joey: Hey Dawson.
Dawson slowly turns around.
Dawson: Yeah Jo?
Joey: (with a teasing smile) Do I ever get to read your script?
Dawson: (with a smile) Of course. Ill email you a copy tonight.
He waits a beat before walking out of Joeys room. Joey turns back to her computer with a smile on her face.
Int. Dougs Apartment (Night Day 2)
Sarah and Doug are sitting on the couch watching a movie. Pacey walks in, and he stops when he sees them.
Sarah: (looking up) Hey Pacey.
Doug: Hey Pace.
Pacey: Hey.
Pacey walks slowly into the room.
Doug: Theres some mail for you on the table.
Pacey walks over to the table and picks up the envelope. He stares at it nervously. Its his SAT scores. Doug watches him expectantly. Finally, Pacey rips open the envelope and looks at his scores.
Doug: Well?
Pacey: (looking up) Well what?
Doug: Howd you do?
Pacey: 1080.
Doug: Congrats little brother. You didnt do that bad.
Pacey: (defensive) Dont sound so surprised.
Doug: Pacey, I didnt mean it that way.
Pacey: (sighing) Yeah I know.
Sarah: Thats a really good score Pacey.
Pacey: (smiling) Thanks.
Sarah: We should celebrate.
Pacey: Thanks, but I have a massive amount of homework to do.
Sarah: Tomorrow then. Why dont you come to dinner with Doug and me? You could ask your girlfriend to come too.
Pacey looks to Doug who shrugs.
Doug: What do you say Pace?
Pacey: (distracted) Yeah sure. Sounds great.
Pacey walks into the kitchen silently.
Sarah: (turning to Doug) Is he okay?
Doug: I dont know.
Doug stands up, and he follows Pacey into the kitchen. He finds Pacey standing at the refrigerator with the door open drinking juice from the carton. Pacey looks up at Doug standing in the doorway his arms crossed over his chest.
Pacey: What?
Doug: Something bugging you little brother?
Pacey: (slamming the refrigerator door shut) Nothing you should concern yourself with.
Doug: Pacey when are you going to knock that chip off your shoulder.
Pacey: I dont have a chip on my shoulder, and I just dont want to talk about it.
Doug: Is it about Joey?
Pacey shrugs.
Doug: Did you two have a fight?
Pacey: (angry) Which part of I dont want to talk about it didnt you understand?
Doug: The part where something is obviously bothering you. Look if you dont want to talk about it with me fine, but talk to someone. I really dont think either of us can handle another year of your incessant moping.
Doug walks out of the kitchen, and Pacey leans up against the refrigerator and sighs.
Int. Capeside High (Day 3)
Andie is in the computer lab looking at college websites when Dawson comes up and sits next to her.
Dawson: Hey.
Andie: (looking up) Hey.
Dawson: So this afternoon...
Andie: (cutting him off) Filming at Mrs. Freckerlings.
Dawson: Right. Im sorry I know you remember its just I havent seen you much lately.
Andie: (focusing her attention on him) Im sorry Dawson. This whole college thing is just a major time sucker.
Dawson: Yeah Ive noticed that going around.
Andie: You are working on your aps right?
Dawson: I am just not as ardently as some.
Andie smiles a little embarrassed.
Andie: I think Ive been waiting for this my whole life. For as long as I could remember I wanted to go to college.
Dawson: To Harvard?
Andie: (smiling proudly) To Harvard.
Dawson: (looking at the screen) Then why are you on the Northeastern web page?
Andie: It never hurts to have a back up plan. I mean Im confident Ill get into Harvard, but (her face falls) you just never know.
Dawson: Youll get in Andie. I know you will.
Andie: (a little smile) Thanks.
Dawson stands up.
Dawson: So Ill see you this evening?
Daniel walks up.
Andie: Ill be there director.
Dawson laughs.
Daniel: (curiously) Be where?
Andies face lights up.
Andie: To Dawsons set to work on his movie.
Daniel: (unenthusiastically) Neat.
Dawson glares at Daniel.
Dawson: I was just leaving.
Daniel: Bye.
Andie: Bye Dawson.
Dawson walks away.
Andie: Do you not like him?
Daniel: I dont know him.
Andie gives him a look like shes trying to figure him out.
Daniel: So I guess that wild ride I was planning for us down the coast is out.
Andie: (surprised) You were planning that?
Daniel: (laughing) Not really, but I thought maybe we could hang out (turning serious he runs his hand up her neck to just below her ear and caresses her cheek with his thumb) you know have a little fun.
Andie: (her breathe catches) I promised Dawson I would...
Daniel: (removing his hand) Help on his little movie. No biggie another time.
Daniel stands up.
Andie: (slightly panicked) You could come.
Daniel: To help on his movie?
Andie: You dont have to help. Just hang out with me.
Daniel: Maybe. See ya Andie.
Daniel walks away and Andie sighs. She turns back to her computer terminal slightly frustrated.
Int. Capeside High (Day 3)
Joey is walking down the hall, and Pacey comes up behind her. He wraps his arms around her from behind.
Pacey: (whispering in her ear) Just the girl Ive been looking for.
Joey: (smiling) And why is that?
Pacey: Ive missed you.
Pacey pulls her into a nearby closet.
Joey: (laughing) Pacey what are you doing?
Pacey: Trying to steal some time with my favorite girl.
Joey: I better be your favorite girl.
Pacey: Oh you are.
Pacey pulls Joey to him and kisses her. Joey wraps her arms around his neck as they continue to kiss. Pacey kisses down her neck as she runs her hands through his hair and lets out a little sigh before Pacey captures her mouth with his again. The kiss turns desperate on Paceys part as he nearly crushes her body trying to hold her tightly against him. Joey pulls away. She rests her hand on his cheek.
Joey: Pacey are you okay?
Pacey: Im fine why whats wrong?
Joey: Nothing.
Pacey kisses her again. He pulls away and rests his forehead against hers.
Pacey: These past couple of weeks Jo theyve been killing me.
Joey: I know, and itll be over soon. The applications will be gone, and Ill have all the time in the world for you (pausing) for us. I promise.
Pacey: I know. Im sorry.
Joey kisses him softly.
Joey: This is nice.
Pacey: (running his hands over her arms) What do you say you take the night off?
Joey: What?
Pacey: Doug and Sarah want us to all go out to dinner.
Joey: (raising her eyebrows) A double date? With your brother?
Pacey: And surprisingly two of the participants will be women.
Joey giggles.
Pacey: What do you say? I cant promise fun, but well be together.
Joey: (her face clouds over) I cant.
Pacey: (confused) Why not?
Joey: (quietly) I promised Dawson I would work on his film tonight.
Pacey is taken a back.
Pacey: What?
Joey: He asked me last night and I said I would. Im really trying to get things back to normal and I dont think it would help to back out. (begging) Pace please understand.
Pacey: Understand? You have time to help on Dawsons movie, but not to be with me?
Joey: Its not like that.
Pacey: Jo, for the past three weeks we havent been out once, or spent any time not in school together. Im trying to understand here, I really am, but the logic is escaping me.
Joey: (reaching out to him) Pacey...
Pacey: (backing away from her) Youre not the only one here trying to figure things out Jo. Youre not the only one confused.
Joey: I never said I was.
Pacey: (quietly) Sometimes it just hurts, cause I need you and youre not there.
Joey: (confused) Pacey what are you talking about.
Pacey: Nothing forget it. See ya Jo.
Pacey walks out of the closet leaving Joey to stare after him in confusion.
Fade out...
Act 3
Int. Capeside High (Day 3)
Pacey is sitting in Mr. Milos office.
Mr. Milo: (opening Paceys file) I see youve gotten your SATs scores.
Pacey: Yeah.
Mr. Milo: Not bad.
Pacey: (shrugging) Well...
Mr. Milo: Youre grades on the other hand...
Pacey: So Im not going to Harvard?
Mr. Milo: Do you want to go to Harvard, Pacey?
Pacey: (laughing) No.
Mr. Milo: I didnt think so. You should really try taking your future seriously.
Pacey: I know my future.
Mr. Milo: (slamming the file shut) Care to enlighten me?
Pacey: A couple years at CCC while I pump gas, or serve food to make a living, and then maybe getting a job where if Im lucky Ill file papers all day, or if Im unlucky Ill slave away under the burden of physical labor.
Mr. Milo: So you have it all figured out?
Pacey: It was figured out for me.
Mr. Milo: Pacey your grades are nothing to brag about (Pacey lets out a self deprecating snort) but they are good enough to get you into some schools. They may not be the ones youve heard of, or thought about going to, but they will give you an education you can then use to get a job you want.
Pacey: (uninterested) Yeah.
Mr. Milo: Do you want to go to college Pacey?
Pacey looks up shocked. Mr. Milo waits for him to answer as Pacey turns the question over in his mind.
Mr. Milo: Its my job to encourage you to further your education, but lets be honest here Pacey further education is a waste of time if its not what you want.
Pacey: I dont know what I want.
Mr. Milo: Well figure it out soon, because before you know it your future really will have chosen you.
Ext. Mrs. Freckerlings House (Day 3)
Dawson is messing around with his camera when Andie walks up.
Andie: Andie McPhee reporting for duty.
Dawson: (looking up) Hey, youre early.
Andie: (shrugging) You dont mind do you?
Dawson: (smiling) Not at all.
Andie: Great cause I was looking over the shooting schedule, and well I think it might be more practical to film scene twenty four today and save scene twenty for tomorrow, so that we can keep all the filming to the green house area, and not have to move all the equipment to the porch.
Dawson: Well scene twenty four would involve a wardrobe change.
Andie: True, but its easier to change a few shirts, than haul all the equipment dont you think?
Dawson: (smiling) Youre right.
Andie smiles proudly. Henry approaches them.
Henry: Hey.
Andie turns around in shock to face him, and Dawson cringes.
Henry: So anything I can do?
Dawson: (stammering) Umm right now were not really doing anything. Were waiting for the rest of the crew and cast to show up.
Henry: Okay, Ill be around.
Henry walks off, and Andie, who still is in a state of shock, turns to Dawson.
Andie: (hissing) What is he doing here?
Dawson: (stuttering) I...
Andie: What about Jen?
Dawson: (running his hands through his hair in frustration) I didnt want him here. He invited himself.
Andie: Tell him to go away.
Dawson: (sighing) I cant.
Andie: (hands on her hips) Why not?
Dawson: He... (his voice trails off)
Andie: Dawson Leary.
Dawson: (hushed whisper) He basically said if he didnt get to help he would have Mrs. Freckerling take away my funding.
Andie: (shocked) He said that?
Dawson: He implied it. Andie, you cant tell anyone. Ill think of something before Jen gets here.
Andie: I hope so.
Ext. Capeside High (Day 3)
Jack is sitting on top of a picnic table, and Jen is sitting on the bench by his feet leaning back on her elbows.
Jen: Im so glad school is out.
Jack: Yeah well well be back tomorrow.
Jen: (groaning) Can I have one happy thought here Jack??
Jack: (little smile) Sorry.
Jen: We make a sad pair I tell you.
Jack: (pointing to Pacey walking by) But not as sad as that.
Jen looks over at Pacey who is walking by shoulders slumped, and obviously not having the best day.
Jen: Wonder whats wrong with him (shouting) Pace.
Pacey looks over, and gives them a little smile. Jen waves him over. Pacey hesitates before walking over to them.
Pacey: Hey guys.
Jen: Hey Pace.
Jack: (nodding) Hey.
Jen: So whats wrong?
Pacey: (shrugging) Nothing.
Jen: Come on Pace that may work on some people, but not me.
Pacey gives Jen a look.
Jen: Come on your life cant be as bad as ours.
Pacey sits on the table.
Pacey: Wanna wager on that?
Jen: Well I have an ex boyfriend who is border line stalking me, and Jack here has a boyfriend thats packing it up and moving to the big city. Can you top that?
Pacey: Im coming to the realization that my future isnt so bright. Joeys going away to college, and well Im probably not.
Jen and Jack share a look.
Jen: Nope not good enough.
Jack: We win.
Pacey chuckles, and nudges Jen with his leg.
Jen: Itll work out Pace.
Pacey: So they say, but I dont think itll work out the way I want it to.
Jen: And how is that?
Pacey: (with a hint of sarcasm) The picturesque storybook happy ending complete with and they lived happily ever after.
Jen: It could happen you know.
Pacey: (quietly) Yeah.
Jack: Have you talked to Joey about it?
Pacey: I tried, but shes so focused on other things.
Jen: You should talk to her Pace, as soon as possible.
Pacey: (standing up) Well it wont be this afternoon, because shes working on Dawsons film.
Jen: (reaching out her hand) Pacey.
Pacey: I gotta go.
Pacey walks away.
Jack: Why does it seem like his problems are worse than ours?
Jen watches Pacey walk away.
Jen: The course of true love never did run smooth.
Jack: (giving her a look) Dont go all Shakespeare on me.
Jen grins, and socks Jack in the leg.
Int. Capeside High (Day 3)
Joey is standing in a classroom talking to the teacher Mrs. Baker.
Mrs. Baker: (handing Joey her essay) Its a wonderful essay Joey. I made some grammatical corrections, and a few suggestions, but overall you did a wonderful job.
Joey: Thank you again for taking the time to help me with this.
Daniel comes into view in the classroom doorway. He stops.
Mrs. Baker: Youre welcome. Im sure youll have no problem getting into the schools youve chosen.
Joey: Thank you.
Joey turns and notices Daniel waiting in the doorway. She walks over to him.
Daniel: You know this college fever going around is starting to get annoying.
Joey: Its nice to see you too.
Joey walks by Daniel. Daniel rolls his eyes, and he falls into step beside her.
Joey: (annoyed) Did you want something?
Daniel: Well arent we touchy today.
Joey: (sighing) Yeah well its not the best day Ive had.
Daniel: The great college hunt got you down?
Joey shrugs.
Daniel: Or is it the boyfriend?
Joey: (snapping) Its none of your business.
Daniel: Whoa down girl. I was just trying to be nice, but hey you dont want to talk about it. So where are you headed?
Joey: To help a friend on his movie.
Daniel: (stopping) This friend wouldnt happen to be Dawson would it?
Joey stops as well and looks at Daniel in slight shock.
Joey: You know Dawson?
Daniel: I wouldnt say that, but I have heard about his dabbling in the filmatic arts.
Joey: Its a little more than dabbling.
Daniel: Call it what you will. Im still not interested.
They start walking again.
Joey: Okay, but Im sure you wouldnt like it if people talked like that about your music.
Daniel: (with a shrug) Maybe.
Joey: I mean its a dream, and hes good at it. Just like youre good at the music thing.
Daniel: You can stop the comparisons to Dawson now.
Joey: Sorry, I just admire the dedication he has. The future he has.
Daniel: (rolling his eyes) Back to the future virus thats going around.
Joey: (skeptically) You never think about your future.
Daniel: Nope I tend to take things day by day.
Joey: How very 12 step program of you.
Daniel flinches, and Joey notices. She starts to say something, but Daniel cuts her off.
Daniel: You need a ride?
Ext. Mrs. Freckerlings House (Day 3)
Dawson is standing by the green house looking through his camera. In the background we see Mark, who is going to play Sean the lead character in the film, and Beth who is going to play the female lead Rachel in the film. About twenty other people are milling around. Andie walks up to Dawson with a clipboard.
Andie: Are we ready to start?
Dawson: Well the cast is here. Im just waiting for the crew.
Jack and Jen walk up.
Jack: And the crew is here.
Dawson: Great, I thought you guys were going to bail on me.
Jen: Have a little faith Dawson.
Andie: Okay now that everyones here.
Dawson looks around searching for someone (Joey).
Andie: We can start. Jack I need you to finish stringing up the lights for the party scene, and Jen I need your help organizing the extras. Were going to do scene seventeen first which only involves Sean and Rachel. Then well do the party scene. Okay?
Jen: (whispering to Jack) Whos the director again.
Jack tries to suppress his laughter, and Jen giggles.
Int. Dougs Apartment (Day 3)
Pacey is lying on the couch watching TV. Doug walks in the door. Pacey looks up briefly before turning his eyes back to the TV.
Doug: Having a productive afternoon in front of the TV?
Pacey: Lay off Doug.
Doug walks over to Pacey. Pacey sits up, and Doug sits next to him.
Doug: Sarah will be here in a few minutes. Are you still going to dinner with us?
Pacey: (shaking his head no) Joey couldnt make it.
Doug: You could come alone. Sarahs really looking forward to this.
Pacey: Why?
Doug: For some unknown reason she wants to get to know you.
Pacey: You guys are getting pretty serious.
Doug: (smiling) I love her.
Pacey: (unenthused) Im happy for you.
Doug: So what do you say?
Pacey: (standing up) I dont think Id be very good company tonight.
Doug: (leaning back) Maybe it would help to get whatever it is thats eating at you out.
Pacey: I dont know.
Doug: Does it have to do with your SAT score, cause Pacey your score was good.
Pacey: Yeah, but combined with my low C grade point average my college prospects arent too promising.
Doug: Maybe not, but you do have college options.
Pacey: What if I dont want to go to college?
Doug: (shocked) What?
Pacey: I mean honestly the only reason Ive thought about college is so I could be with Joey, but realistically the schools shes applying to, the schools she will end up choosing from, are way out of my league.
Doug: Pacey I know you love Joey, but its your future. You should make the choice that is right for what you want to do with your life.
Pacey: She is my future. When I close my eyes and dream shes all I see. I cant lose her.
Doug: You dont have to lose her Pace.
Pacey: High school romances dont survive college. Its statistically proven.
Doug: Since when have you and Joey ever fallen into any statistic? I mean the road youve traveled to be together, the hardships, and the pain. Its more than a high school romance Pacey, and if anyone can survive a college long distance relationship its you and Joey.
Pacey is silent as he contemplates what Doug said.
Doug: Have you talked to her about your fears?
Pacey: No.
Doug: Well shes the only one who can help you Pace. Shes the only one who can give you an answer. Talk to her.
Ext. Mrs. Freckerlings House (Day 3)
People are milling around. Jack is stringing up lights. Jen is talking to a group of extras. Andie is standing with Dawson discussing the script.
Dawson: I think we should have the conversation between Sean and Rachel over there. (Dawson points to a tree with a swing attached)
Andie: Thats perfect.
Dawson: Make sure Jack strings some lights over there as well.
Andie: Okay.
Andie walks away. She stops when she sees Joey walking over with Daniel. They approach Andie.
Daniel: Hey.
Joey: Hey Andie. (awkward pause) Im going to go talk to Dawson.
Joey leaves and Andie addresses Daniel.
Andie: (coolly) I thought you didnt want to come.
Daniel: I didnt. I gave Joey a ride, and thought I would come and say hi.
Andie: Oh.
Daniel: I can leave if its a problem.
Andie: (small smile) No not at all.
Daniel smiles, and entwines his hand in her hair at the base of her neck.
Daniel: Anyways, the only reason I gave Joey a ride is I wanted to see you.
Andie lowers her head. Daniel uses his hand to lift her chin, and then kisses her.
Ext. Mrs. Freckerlings House (Day 3)
Dawson is standing by the greenhouse looking over his script when Joey walks up.
Joey: Hey Dawson.
Dawson looks up and smiles.
Dawson: Hey Joey. Im glad you could make it.
Joey: (waving her hand at the set) This is amazing.
Dawson: Yeah it really is.
Joey: So I read your script last night.
Dawson: (nervously) What did you think?
Joey: I thought it was great Dawson. I mean really its so different from what youve done before, and so...well...grown up.
Dawson: Thanks.
Joey: It should be a big success.
Dawson: I can hope.
Joey: So Im here to help, what can I do?
Dawson: Well actually everything is pretty much taken care of. Ive gotten so much help I dont know what to do with it all.
Joey: (her face clouds over) Well if you dont need the help I can just go.
Dawson: (hurriedly) No. I mean I need the help. I need your help.
Joey gives him a half smile. Dawson smiles back, but it quickly fades as Jen storms up to him and grabs his arm. She drags him off away from all the people.
Jen: (hissing) I have to talk to you.
Dawson: I know what youre going to say.
Jen stops.
Jen: (angrily) What is he doing here?
Dawson: Jen, I can explain.
Jen: (raising her voice) What is he doing here?
Dawson: He invited himself. (Dawson reaches out to her) Jen you have to believe me, I didnt tell him he could come.
Jen: (quietly) Can you tell him to go then for me.
Dawson: (looking down) I cant exactly tell him to leave Mrs. Freckerlings house.
Jen: (hands on hips) Why not?? (Dawson doesnt answer) Did he threaten you?
Dawson: No (Jen gives him a pointed look) Not exactly.
Jen: (throwing her hands in the air) This is just great.
Jen storms off, and Dawson watches her with a worried look on his face.
Fade out...
ACT 4
Ext. Mrs. Freckerlings House (Night of Day 3)
Henry is leaning against the greenhouse staring at something. Following his gaze we see Jen talking to Jack. Jen feels his gaze on her and glances over. Henry stands up straight. Jen says something to Jack before walking over to Henry.
Henry: Hey Jen.
Jen: (very accusatory) What are you doing here?
Henry: Helping Dawson.
Jen: He doesnt need the help.
Henry: I was just trying to be nice.
Jen: No you werent.
Henry: What?
Jen: Youre here cause Im here.
Henry: Is that so bad?
Jen: Yes it is. This is why we broke up in the first place.
Henry: We didnt break up. You wouldnt give me a second chance.
Jen: Im not having this discussion again. Its over Henry, and stunts like this just reaffirm my decision.
Henry: Jen...
Jen: And one more thing, I dont know what you said to Dawson, but your help isnt needed or welcomed, and if you do anything to jeopardize the completion of this film you will see a side of Jen Lindley that you will wish you never had, got it?
Henry: (pleading) Jen I didnt say anything to Dawson. I dont know what he told you.
Jen: (shaking her head) It doesnt matter Henry just stay the hell away from me, and stop writing me, and stop sending me flowers. Just stop. There is nothing you can do that will change my mind.
Jen quickly walks away from Henry.
Ext. Aboard True Love (Night of Day 3)
Pacey is sitting on the deck of his boat. In his hand he holds his SATs scores. He stares at them deep in thought. After some time of contemplation he crumples the paper in his fist, and throws it out into the black water. He stands up, and jumps down from True Love and walks away.
Ext. Mrs. Freckerlings House (Night of Day 3)
Joey is sitting in the grass off to the side of all the action going on. Shes watching everything with a sort of lost sad look on her face. Daniel walks over and sits next to her.
Daniel: Hey Joey.
Joey: (smiling) Hey Daniel.
Daniel: Why are you sitting all the way over here?
Joey: Theres really not much for me to do over there. They seem to have it all worked out. Im just in the way.
Daniel: Yeah they seem to be their own little movie clique.
Joey: Which Im not a part of anymore.
Daniel: Is that what you were upset about earlier?
Joey: (shaking her head) No.
Daniel: Wanna talk about it, or are you going to bite my head off again?
Joey: You probably dont want to hear it.
Daniel: I wouldnt ask if I didnt want to. You should know that.
Joey laughs lightly.
Daniel: So whats got you down?
Joey: Its nothing important. I just had a fight with my boyfriend.
Daniel: And you havent talked to him about it yet?
Joey: I dont even think I know what it was about.
Daniel: How can you not know what it was about?
Joey: I thought we were arguing about one thing, and then he started talking about something totally different.
Daniel: Sounds like he has issues.
Joey: (cocking an eyebrow) Issues? You dont even know him. How would you know?
Daniel: Common sense look it up. Youre arguing about the obvious, hes arguing about the not so obvious which 99.99 percent of the time equals issues hes been harboring that he would like to talk to you about but for whatever reason hasnt. Hes either scared, confused, embarrassed, or possibly a combination of all three.
Joey: Whered you read that Cosmo?
Daniel: Cute. (standing up) I was just trying to help.
Joey: (sincerely) Thank you.
Daniel: Go talk to him. You wont feel better till you do.
Joey: I will.
Daniel: Now.
Joey: I cant just leave. I promised Id help.
Daniel: (sarcastic) And youre helping oh so much. Sulking over here doesnt constitute helping.
Joey: Its not like you have a purpose for being here.
Daniel: Good point. (holding out his hand to her) Need a ride.
Joey nods and takes his hand and he helps her up. They walk off and we see Andie watching them with a confused, and hurt look.
Ext. Mrs. Freckerlings (Night of Day 3)
Everyone has left except Jen, Dawson, Andie, and Jack. They are packing up the last of the equipment. Jack is taking down the lights. Jen is gathering up cables. Andie is picking up trash off the lawn, and Dawson is packing up the camera. Andie walks towards Dawson.
Andie: Well today was a success I would say.
Dawson: Yeah it went really good. Thank you for all your help.
Andie: You can stop thanking me Dawson. I enjoy doing it. I should thank you for the opportunity. Plus it looks nice on my applications.
Dawson: (chuckling) Glad I could help in your pursuit of the Harvard dream.
Andie smiles. Jack and Jen join them.
Jack: It was so nice of everyone to bail, and leave us with clean up duty.
Dawson: Filmmaking isnt as glamorous as it appears on TV is it?
Jack: Not really.
Dawson: Thanks again guys.
Jen: (resting her hand on his shoulder) What are friends for.
Dawson gets a far off look on his face, and nods.
Jack: Im hungry.
Andie: Yeah me too. Anyone wanna go get some food?
Jen: Sounds like a plan. Im sure Grams has some yummy treats at the house.
Dawson: Or we could stop by Learys, and raid the fridge.
Jen: Kitchens closed by now though.
Dawson: (grinning mischievously) But I have the key.
Jen: Bad Dawson.
Jack: Im thinking good Dawson. Lets go.
Everyone laughs.
Ext. Potter B&B (Night of Day 3)
Daniels car pulls up in front of the B&B and him and Joey get out. They walk to the porch.
Joey: Thanks for driving me all over Capeside.
Daniel: No problem. Im just sorry you didnt find him.
Joey: I have no idea where he could be.
Joey steps up to the front door, and unlocks it.
Joey: Do you want something to drink?
Daniel: Sure.
Int. Potter B&B (Night of Day 3)
Daniel follows her inside. They walk to the kitchen and stop when they see Pacey at the kitchen table. Pacey looks up when they walk in.
Joey: (surprised) Pacey.
Pacey: Hey, Ive been waiting for you.
Joey: We were driving all over town looking for you.
Pacey: (curiously) We?
Joey: (flustered she turns to Daniel) Me and Daniel. Pacey this is Daniel.
Pacey: Hey.
Daniel: Hey nice to meet you.
Joey: Hes a friend.
Pacey: I gathered that.
Daniel: Well my job is done. Im glad you found each other, and Im going to go somewhere else.
Joey: (turning to Daniel) Thanks.
Daniel: No problem.
Daniel walks out of the room, and Joey turns to Pacey.
Joey: Hes just a friend Pacey.
Pacey: I know.
Joey: Okay I just didnt want you to think something else.
Pacey: Should I be thinking something else?
Joey: No of course not.
Pacey: Good. (pause) So how was working on the movie?
Joey: (walking over to the table she sits down) Strange.
Pacey: I bet.
Joey: How was dinner with Doug?
Pacey: Didnt go.
Joey: Why not?
Pacey: I had some stuff to think about.
Joey: (reaching across the table to grasp his hand) Pacey whats going on with you? You know you can talk to me.
Pacey: Do you ever think about the future Jo?
Joey: Yeah all the time why?
Pacey: What do you see?
Joey: (confused) What?
Pacey: What do you see when you think about the future?
Joey: I dont know. College. A career.
Pacey: Do you see me?
Joey: (reaching up to caress his cheek) Of course.
Pacey: Cause when I think about the future all I see is you Jo.
Joey: Pacey you are my future.
Pacey: I want to believe that Jo.
Joey recoils her hand, as she is shocked and offended by his words.
Joey: Why dont you?
Pacey: What college are you going to Jo?
Joey: I dont know. There are a few colleges I like. Im just waiting to see where I get in.
Pacey: Youll get in.
Joey: (shrugging) I havent even gotten my SAT scores yet.
A silence.
Pacey: Im not going to college Jo.
Joey stares at him in shock.
Joey: (stammering) What?
Pacey: Im not going to college Jo.
Joey: Why?
Pacey: Whats the point?
Joey: Pacey you are not dumb. How many times do I have to tell you that?
Pacey: I know Im not dumb Jo, but with my grades and my scores Im not exactly given a lot of options, and to be rather blunt it would be a waste of time for me. I dont really want to go to college. The only reason I would go away to college is to be with you, but I cant go to the colleges you are applying to.
Joey: Pacey do you know what this means?
Pacey nods.
Joey: (shaking her head tears forming in her eyes) I cant stay here Pacey.
Pacey: I wouldnt ask you to.
Joey: (starting to cry) I cant leave you either.
Pacey: (holding her face in his hands he wipes her tears away with his thumb) Who says youre leaving me?
Joey: Pacey why are you giving up. You can go to college. Ill help you.
Pacey: Jo, I havent given up. I made a choice.
Joey: Dont I get a say in this?
Pacey: No, this is something I had to decide for myself.
Joey: (standing up) Okay fine. You made a choice. It doesnt mean I have to like it.
Joey turns on her heal and rushes out of the room.
Pacey: (shouting after her) Jo.
His only answer is the sound of her bedroom door slamming shut.
Pacey drops his head into his hands, and his body shakes slightly from his silent tears.
Int. Potter B&B (Night of Day 3)
Joey leans against the back of her door trying to control the tears streaming down her face. She brushes them away angrily. She walks over to her bed. There is an envelope on the bed. She picks it up, and stares at it hesitantly. Finally, she slowly opens it. Her tears start to flow harder as she tosses the letter down on the bed. The letter is her SAT scores. 1420.
Fade out...
