Int. Screen Play Video (Night of Day 1)
Dawson is rearranging some videos on the shelf. Outside we see Joey walk by the window. She pauses, and stares inside. She makes a move to open the door, but hesitates. She sighs, and turns her back. Dawson senses someone watching him, and turns to the window, and sees Joeys back as she walks away. Sadness washes over his face, and he sighs. He puts the video he is holding back on the shelf, and walks towards the back. He walks into the back of the video store.
Fade out to credits...
Act 1
Ext. Capeside High (Day 2)
Jen is sitting at a table looking at a textbook. Shes not really reading it. You can tell shes thinking about something else. Jack walks up, and sits next to her.
Jack: Hey.
Jen: (looking over at him) You look about as good as I feel.
Jack: Gee thanks.
Jen: Whats eating you?
Jack: Nothing.
Jen: (raising an eyebrow) Nothing?
Jack: (sighing) Im just confused about things with Charles is all.
Jen: (concerned) What happened?
Jack: I think hes avoiding me.
Jen: Why would he be avoiding you? Did you guys have a fight?
Jack: Not exactly. I told him I wasnt ready to you know have sex, and he seemed cool with it, but ever since hes been dodging me. I call, and he has to go. I saw him at the community college, and he had to go. Im just starting to think...
Jen: (cutting him off) Dont think.
Jack: (confused) What?
Jen: Dont think, cause inevitably you are going to assume the worse, and it might be nothing. So before you let your imagination take you to a place that will only make you sad, talk to Charles.
Jack: Your advice has two flaws.
Jen: Which are?
Jack: My mind has already wandered to places I would have rather not gone.
Jen: And two?
Jack: I cant talk to Charles if he wont talk to me.
Jen: I see your point.
Jack: So back to square one.
Jen: (smiling apologetically) Sorry Jack. Im not exactly the person who should be doling out advice to the love troubled anyways.
Jack: Problems with Henry still??
Jen: (nodding) I told him how I felt. Everyone said talk to him, tell him how you feel, and hell understand. Well I did, and he didnt.
Jack: Ouch.
Jen: Hes so stuck on me never wanting to spend time with him. I want to spend time with him just not every second, of every minute, of every hour, of every day, you know?
Jack: (wrapping his arm around Jens shoulders) I know.
Jen: Im trying and trying to be who he wants me to be, but to be that person Im losing myself.
Jack: Has it occurred to you that maybe you guys just arent right for each other?
Jen: (nodding as tears start to fall) And I hate the thought, because I do love him.
Jack: (quietly) Love sucks.
Jen turns her head into Jacks shoulder, and cries.
Int. Capeside High (Day 2)
Henry is at his locker putting his books away. Dawson walks up.
Dawson: Henry.
Henry: (looking over) Hey Dawson.
Dawson: Have you talked to Mrs. Freckerling?
Henry: (obviously thinking of other things) What?
Dawson: Mrs. Freckerling? You said you were going to ask her about funding my movie.
Henry: (focusing on Dawson) Right. Sorry. I talked to her, and she said she might be able to help a little bit, but she wants to meet you.
Dawson: Great thanks.
Henry: (drifting off into a melancholy state) No problem.
Dawson: Henry is something wrong?
Henry: (focusing again) What?
Dawson: You seem a bit down.
Henry: (shaking his head) Its nothing. I mean its just has Jen said anything to you, about me I mean?
Dawson: (stammering) What? (pausing) I mean no not really.
Henry: Oh, I was just wondering. (changing the subject) Meet me after school, and Ill take you up to talk to Mrs. Freckerling.
Dawson: Okay, thanks.
Henry: No problem. See ya Dawson.
Henry walks away.
Int. Capeside High Cafeteria (Day 2)
Joey is sitting at a table eating her lunch, and looking over a textbook. Pacey walks up behind her. He wraps his arms around her, and kisses her neck.
Pacey: Hows my girlfriend today?
Joey: (smiling up at him) You have a girlfriend? Poor girl.
Pacey: (sitting down next to her) You keep charming me like that Josephine, and I might start thinking you like me.
Joey: I wouldnt want that now would I?
Pacey just grins, and they share a kiss.
Moving to across the cafeteria we see Dawson watching them. His expression is unreadable as he watches Pacey and Joey kiss. Andie comes up behind him, and places her hand on his shoulder.
Andie: Are you okay Dawson?
Dawson jumps a little, and turns around to face Andie.
Dawson: Im fine.
Andie: It still hurts?
Dawson looks back at the couple as they are laughing.
Dawson: (looking back at Andie) It still hurts.
Andie: Dawson, Im your friend, and Im only going to say this because its whats best for you, but you have to get over it.
Dawson: (resting his hand on Andies shoulder) Andie, what hurts is that I cant walk over there, and sit down with my best friend in the entire world and have lunch.
Andie is shocked by his answer.
Dawson: I miss her Andie.
Andie: Dawson thats great. I mean its not great that youre missing her, but its great that you want to be her friend again. (pausing) and Pacey, do you miss him too?
Dawson: (closing his eyes to think, and then opening them again) I miss Pacey, but I dont know if we can ever be friends again.
Andie: Whats different between Joey, and Pacey? They were both your best friends.
Dawson: Its just different. My friendship with Pacey was different than with Joey. Im not sure we can ever go back to what it was.
Andie: Dawson, you have to try.
Dawson: Andie, one step at a time okay.
Andie: (nodding in understanding) Okay.
Dawson looks back over at Pacey and Joey. Pacey has his arm around her, and is leaning extremely close to her as he whispers in her ear. Joey is smiling as she listens to him. She turns her head and kisses him softly. As she pulls away she looks up and sees Dawson staring. She freezes as their eyes lock. Dawson smiles. Confusion flashes onto her face, and then a small smile.
Pacey notices the change in Joeys behavior.
Pacey: Jo?
Joey turns away from Dawson and focuses on Pacey.
Joey: (with a smile) Yeah.
Pacey turns around, and sees Dawson, and Andie walking away. He gets a troubled look on his face. He turns back to Joey.
Joey: (in a warning tone) Pacey, dont even start.
Pacey: (throwing up his hands in defense) I wasnt starting anything.
Joey: (smiling at him she grabs his hand) Pacey, I think Dawson may be ready to forgive us.
Pacey: (his expression is unreadable) What just happened?
Joey: He smiled at me.
Pacey doesnt answer, and Joey looks at him trying to read what he is thinking.
Int. Capeside High (Day 2)
Andie is standing at a bulletin board reading the announcements. A pair of arms wrap around her waist.
Daniel: Anything I should know about?
Andie: (smiling) Just the usual boring, and mundane school stuff.
Daniel: I thought you liked school?
Andie: I do, but an announcement about the cafeterias new milk distribution policy doesnt really pique my interest.
Daniel laughs lightly right by Andies neck. He drops his arms, and Andie turns around to face him.
Daniel: So what are you doing tonight?
Andie: The usual. Eat dinner, watch Jeopardy, and study.
Daniel puts his arm around her shoulders and they begin to walk down the hall.
Daniel: Well how would you like to trade in the usual for something different?
Andie: (looking over at him) What are you suggesting?
Daniel: (looking back at her) Does it matter?
Andie: I was kinda looking forward to an exciting evening with my Pre Calc book.
Daniel: (with a grin) Well when you put it that way Im not sure I can top that. (turning serious) Go out with me tonight.
Andie: (curiously) Where?
Daniel: I use going out as a relative term. (stopping Daniel turns to face Andie) Would you like to go on a date Andie? I cant promise the thrills of Pre Calc, but we can have some fun.
Andie: (smiling) Yeah, I would.
Daniel: Great. Ill pick you up at 8.
Daniel walks away, and Andie smiles to herself.
Int. McPhees House (Day 2)
Jack walks in the front door. He picks up the mail off the hall table, and looks through it. He smiles as he flips through about 5 college catalogues. He sets the mail back down, and walks into the kitchen. He opens the refrigerator. He reaches in to grab something, but is interrupted by the telephone ringing. He shuts the refrigerator door, and walks over to the phone.
Jack: (picking up the phone) Hello. (pause as he listens to the other end) Hey Charles. (pause) Yeah, Ill be there. (pause) Okay, see you then.
Jack hangs up the phone, and his Dad walks into the kitchen carrying the mail.
Mr. McPhee: Big plans tonight?
Jack: (looking up surprised) Yeah.
Mr. McPhee: (looking at the college catalogues) Youre thinking about going to NYU?
Jack: Andie thinks I should.
Mr. McPhee: Its a great school Jack. Im positive you could get in.
Jack: Im not sure yet what college I want to go to.
Mr. McPhee: Time is running out Jack.
Jack: I know.
Mr. McPhee: If you need anything...
Jack: (cutting him off) Thanks dad, but Im fine.
Mr. McPhee: Okay. (pausing) Have fun tonight.
Jack: Thanks. (pausing) Ill look at those catalogues tomorrow.
Int. Mrs. Freckerlings House (Day 2)
Dawson and Henry are standing on the front porch.
Henry: Shes a really nice old lady, but old fashioned.
Dawson: Okay.
Henry: Compliment her. She loves that.
Dawson: Youre making me nervous.
Henry: Sorry. Youll do fine.
The front door opens.
Mrs. Freckerling: Hello Henry. This must be Dawson Leary.
Dawson: Nice to meet you Mrs. Freckerling.
Mrs. Freckerling: Come on in boys.
Mrs. Freckerling steps aside, and Henry and Dawson walk into the house. They follow her into the house, and into the sitting room.
Mrs. Freckerling: Please sit. Tea?
Dawson starts to say no, but Henry stops him.
Henry: That would be great.
Mrs. Freckerling leaves the room.
Henry: Drink the tea.
Dawson: I dont like tea.
Henry: Just a sip or two. Trust me.
Dawson: (relenting) Okay.
Mrs. Freckerling returns with a tea tray. She sets it on the table, and begins pouring cups of tea.
Mrs. Freckerling: (handing Dawson a cup) So Henry tells me you are making a movie.
Dawson: (taking the cup) Thank you. Yes, Im making a movie. Its my third dramatic piece, but Ive done a few documentaries as well.
Mrs. Freckerling: (handing Henry a cup of tea) What is your movie about?
Henry: (taking the cup) Thank you.
Dawson: Loss of innocence.
Mrs. Freckerling: (with a shocked look on her face) Its about sex?
Dawson: No. Im sorry, I should have explained it better. Its about a boy who goes to a small town for the summer, and discovers himself.
Mrs. Freckerling: A town like Capeside?
Dawson: Yes. It gives him a new perspective on life.
Mrs. Freckerling: Dawson, I would like to help you. From what Henry tells me you are a very talented, and nice boy.
Dawson: (nervous) Thank you.
Mrs. Freckerling: My concern is that if I fund this movie that it will be a positive reflection on me, and the community. Do you understand my concern?
Dawson: Yes, of course. I assure you that it is a positive movie, with a good message.
Mrs. Freckerling: Could I read it?
Dawson: Of course.
Dawson reaches into his bag, and pulls out the script. He hands it to Mrs. Freckerling.
Dawson: Theres no bad words, or nudity.
Mrs. Freckerling: Would you boys like to stay for dinner?
Dawson: Im sorry Mrs. Freckerling. Its really nice of you to offer, but I have to work tonight.
Mrs. Freckerling: (standing up) Another time then.
Dawson: (standing as well) That would be nice. Thank you.

ACT 2
Int. Dougs Apartment (Day 2)
Sarah is sitting on the couch flipping through a magazine. The front door opens, and Pacey walks in. He stops when he sees Sarah. Sarah looks up, and she smiles.
Sarah: Hi Pacey.
Pacey: (hesitating) Hey, Sarah right?
Sarah: Yeah.
Pacey: Wheres Dougie?
Sarah: Hes in the shower.
Pacey raises his eyebrows at her.
Sarah: He picked me up on his way home from work. Were going out to dinner.
Pacey: Sounds great.
Pacey looks around the apartment a little uncomfortable. Sarah shifts nervously.
Sarah: Your brother talks about you all the time.
Pacey: Well dont believe everything Doug says about me.
Sarah: Its all good things.
Pacey: (surprised) Really?
Sarah: Yeah.
Pacey: (sitting down on the couch next to her) So how long have you and Dougie been together?
Sarah: Since July.
Pacey: Wow, that long. Howd you meet?
Sarah: He stopped to help me fix a flat tire.
The bathroom door opens, and Doug steps out. Hes dressed in slacks, a dress shirt, and tie.
Pacey: Picking up girls on the job. Shame on Dougie.
Doug: (walking over to them) I was off duty little brother.
Pacey turns around to smile at Doug.
Doug: Sorry Sarah. My little brother never quite learned his manners.
Sarah: Its okay, Doug. Pacey and I were just having a nice talk.
Doug: Ready to go?
Sarah: (nodding, she stands up and turns to Pacey) Why dont you come with us?
Pacey is surprised by her unexpected invitation, and he looks at Doug who is just as surprised.
Sarah: We can get to know each other.
Pacey: (with an apologetic smile) Thank you, but I have a pile of history homework to get through.
Sarah: (understanding) Another time maybe. Id really like to get to know you.
Pacey: Yeah, that would be nice.
Sarah smiles at Pacey, and then at Doug.
Sarah: Have a nice night Pacey.
Pacey: You too.
Int. Andies Room (Day 2)
Andie is applying her make up in front of the mirror in her room. Theres a knock on the door.
Andie: Come in.
The door opens, and Jack walks in.
Jack: (taking notice the Andie is dressed up) Going out?
Andie: Uh huh. (Andie notices Jack is dressed up as well) You too?
Jack: Yeah.
Andie: Charles?
Jack: Yeah. Let me guess Daniel.
Andie: (smiling) Yes.
Jack: What are you guys going to do get matching tattoos?
Andie: (giving him a look) Jack, dont start with the big brother thing. Daniels a nice guy.
Jack: I just worry about you is all. I dont want you to get hurt.
Andie: I dont want to get hurt either, but sitting in my room to avoid getting hurt isnt the answer.
Jack: I never said it was.
Andie: (growing concerned) Jack, are you okay?
Jack: Im fine why?
Andie: Youre usually not this pessimistic.
Jack: Im fine.
Andie: (not believing him) What are you and Charles doing tonight?
Jack: Were just going to go get some coffee and talk.
Andie: Are you sure youre okay?
Jack: Im okay. Have fun tonight Andie.
Andie: I will, you too.
Jack smiles before leaving the room. Andie stares at the door still wondering what is troubling her brother.
Int. Jens House (Day 2)
Grams is standing at the kitchen counter stirring a bowl of cookie batter. Theres a knock on the back door. She sets the spoon down, and wipes her hands on her apron before heading to the door, and opening it. Dawson is standing on the other side.
Dawson: Hi Mrs. Ryan, is Jen here?
Grams: Hello Dawson. Shes upstairs in her room. Why dont you go on up?
Dawson: (smiling) Thank you.
Dawson walks by Grams, and he heads up the stairs. He knocks on Jens door.
Jen: (from behind the door) Come in.
Dawson opens the door, and he walks in. Jen is lying on her bed reading a textbook, and she looks up as Dawson walks in.
Jen: Dawson hey.
Jen snaps the book shut, and she sits up.
Dawson: Hey Jen.
Jen: Whats up?
Dawson: Not much.
Jen: (rather bluntly) Then why are you here?
Dawson: (defensive) I just thought Id come over and visit. Is that okay?
Jen: Yeah, its just you usually dont just drop by to hang out. In fact, I cant remember a time when you have.
Dawson: Yeah I guess thats true, but hey theres a first time for everything right?
Jen: Yeah, there is. So I repeat whats up?
Dawson sits down on the edge of the bed next to Jen.
Dawson: Henry took me to talk to Mrs. Freckerling this afternoon.
Jen sighs.
Dawson: Whats going on with you guys?
Jen: (getting angry) See I knew you had a reason for being here. (she stands up) Did Henry send you here to do his bidding?
Dawson: (offended) No, why would you say that?
Jen: Youve never taken much of an interest in my relationship with Henry until now, and with you two getting all buddy buddy what am I supposed to think?
Dawson stands up.
Dawson: (angrily) Try having a little more faith in me maybe. (he softens his tone a little) Jen Im your friend. I was concerned about you. Im not being buddy buddy with Henry. He did me a favor, and I assume he only did that cause you and I are friends.
Jen gives him an apologetic smile.
Jen: Thanks Dawson. (she sinks back onto the bed) Im sorry I blew up, its just Henry... (her voice trails off)
Dawson: (sitting next to her) What?
Jen: I just dont know what to do. I love Henry, but our relationship is getting so out of my control. I feel trapped and like Im smothering. I know its wrong.
Dawson: (cutting in) Whys it wrong?
Jen: Because he loves me, and he means well.
Dawson: Jen, sometimes even if your intentions are good, it doesnt make them right.
Jen: I know. I just dont want to give up on our relationship. It seems like the easy answer. The answer the old Jen Lindley would do.
Dawson: (quietly) Like with me.
Jen: Yeah. Bail when things get complicated.
Dawson: Maybe things arent complicated Jen. Maybe they're just not right.
Jen: Dawson Leary giving advice to the lovelorn. Good advice. I never would have expected this.
Dawson: (with a grin) Its the new improved Dawson Leary.
Jen raises her eyebrows in question.
Dawson: Everyone has to grow up sometime. Even me.
Jen: (somewhat shocked) Youve forgiven them havent you?
Dawson: It had to happen.
Jen: Im so proud of you Dawson.
Dawson: Yeah well you might want to wait on that judgment. Forgiveness is one thing. Being friends again is another.
Jen: Itll happen. Just give it time.
Dawson: Time. Do you realize we are running out of time?
Jen: Do you know something I dont? I dont remember getting the memo about the impending apocalypse.
Dawson: (laughing lightly) I meant our time in Capeside.
Jen: Ahh the future.
Dawson: Whats your future hold Jen?
Jen: (shaking her head) I have no idea.
Int. Potter B&B (Day 2)
Joey is sitting at the kitchen table with Bessie looking over the B&Bs accounts.
Bessie: We made enough money this summer to actually buy a new furnace this winter instead of trying to fix up the old one again.
Joey: Thank God. I dont think we could take another winter with the old dilapidated one.
Bessie: Things are getting easier Jo.
Joey smiles, and Bessie stands up and heads for the sink.
Bessie: Which is a good thing cause when you go away to college were probably going to have to hire someone on here to help out.
Joey: Bessie Im sorry.
Bessie: (turning around) Dont be sorry. Dont ever be sorry. Im glad you are leaving. Getting out of here.
Joey: But Im sorry Im leaving this burden on you.
Bessie: Its not a burden. Its my life, but you, you were always better than me Joey.
Joey: (protesting) Bessie.
Bessie: You're smarter, prettier, and you deserve every good thing that comes to you, and a lot more.
Pacey walks around the corner.
Pacey: (with a big grin) Yes she does.
Bessie: (joking) And she deserves better than you.
Pacey: Im not arguing with that, but I guess its my good fortune that she has such low standards.
Joey stands up.
Joey: Enough both of you. You both need to repeat after me. Im smart, Im funny, Im beautiful, and gosh darn it Joey likes me.
Everyone laughs. Pacey and Joey share a knowing look.
Bessie: Ill leave you two alone.
Bessie leaves the kitchen, and Pacey sits down next to Joey. Joey reaches out her hand to caress Paceys face.
Joey: What brings you by Pacey? Not that I mind of course.
She leans forward, and Pacey meets her half way to share a kiss.
Pacey: I was just in the neighborhood.
Joey: (laughing) Yeah right.
Joey stands up, and she walks over to the refrigerator.
Joey: Want something to drink?
Pacey shakes his head no, and Joey pulls out a can of soda. She opens it and takes a sip. Pacey is staring at her, and Joey knows exactly what is on his mind.
Joey: Im going to talk to Dawson tonight.
Pacey: I know.
Joey: Is that why you came over? To stop me?
Pacey: No. I came over because we didnt talk about it earlier, and I think we should.
Joey: (sitting back down) What are you thinking Pacey?
Pacey: That you might get hurt again.
Joey: He made the first move Pacey. If I want to be his friend again, and Pacey I do, I have to meet him half way.
Pacey doesnt say anything.
Joey: And I have a feeling that this time when I row across the creek things will be different.
Pacey: (skeptically) I really hope they are.
Int. Coffee Shop (Night of Day 2)
Jack walks into the coffee shop, and looks around. He sees Charles sitting at a table towards the back and walks over. As he approaches the table Charles looks up.
Charles: Hey Jack.
Charles stands up, and they share a hug. The hug is semi awkward as Jack is uncomfortable. Charles pulls away having sensed his hesitation.
Charles: I already ordered you a mocha.
Jack: Thanks.
They sit down.
Charles: Jack, I know it seems like I have been brushing you off lately, and I apologize.
Jack: Whats been going on?
Charles: I found out about this internship with The New Yorker.
Jack: (surprised) The magazine?
Charles nods. The waitress comes up, and she sets down their drinks.
Charles: (to the waitress) Thank you.
Waitress: Is there anything else I can get you?
Jack shakes his head no.
Charles: No thank you.
The waitress leaves, and Jack takes a sip of his drink.
Charles: Its a great opportunity.
Jack: (quietly) It is.
Charles: So Ive been spending the past few days working on my resume, and acquiring recommendations. I think I have a really good shot at it Jack.
Jack: (unenthusiastically) Thats great.
Charles: (reaching across the table to grasp Jacks hand) Jack, I know what youre thinking.
Jack: You do?
Charles: Its in New York.
Jack: I guess thats obvious.
Charles: Ive thought about it too Jack, and while I care about you...a lot, I cant pass up an opportunity like this.
Jack: I understand. Its understandable.
Charles: (letting go of his hand, and leaning back) I mean I havent gotten it yet. There may be nothing to discuss.
Int. McPhees House (Night of Day 2)
Andie opens the front door revealing Daniel. Hes dressed in a pair of black slacks, a white t-shirt, and a leather jacket.
Daniel: Hey.
Andie: (big smile) Hey (looking at his appearance) Am I over dressed?
Andie is wearing a light blue skirt, and sweater set.
Daniel: (shaking his head) You look great.
Andie smiles at his compliment.
Andie: Where are we going?
Daniel: Out.
Andie: Come on tell me.
Daniel: (with a teasing smile) And ruin the surprise I think not.
Andie: (hesitantly) Why am I suddenly scared?
Daniel: (leaning close to her) Cause youre smart.
He stands back up with a smirk on his face.
Daniel: Ready?
Andie: (cautiously) As ready as Ill ever be.
Daniel holds out his hand, and Andie takes it. They walk outside to his car a black 69 Nova.
Andie: Wow nice car.
Daniel: Thanks. Its my baby.
Daniel opens the passenger door for Andie, and she gets in. He shuts the door behind her, and he walks around to the other side of the car. He gets in and starts the engine. He looks over at Andie, and he smiles before gunning the engine, and taking off.
Int. Dawsons House (Night of Day 2)
Mitch is sitting at the kitchen table grading papers. Gale walks into the kitchen, and Mitch looks up.
Mitch: Hey Gale.
Gale: Mitch, how was your day?
Mitch: Good, and yours?
Gale walks over to Mitch, and gives him a kiss before sitting down next to him.
Gale: Good. (pausing) Is Dawson home?
Mitch: Not yet. (standing up) Did you eat already? I can make you some dinner.
Gale: I ate at the restaurant. One of the perks of owning your own food establishment.
Cut to.
Dawson quietly walks in the front door. Mitch and Gales conversation is continued. Their voices get louder as Dawson makes his way to the kitchen.
Mitch: Did you want me to go with you tomorrow to the doctor?
Gale: Ill be fine Mitch. Theres no reason for you to miss school.
Dawson stops outside the door.
Mitch: If you want me there, Ill miss school. You, and the baby are whats important.
Dawson: (completely shocked) The what??
Both Mitch and Gales heads snap to the doorway where Dawson is standing with a look of complete shock and bewilderment on his face.
Dawson: The what?
Gale: Honey, why dont you come in and sit down.
Dawson: (not moving) Youre having a baby?
Mitch: Yes Dawson your mother is going to have a baby.
Dawson: (accusatory) Why?
Gale is taken a back by his question.
Mitch: (sternly) Dawson, just sit down, and well talk about this.
Dawson: Whats to talk about? Moms pregnant. Talking about it wont change that fact.
Mitch: (angrily) Change it? Why would you want to change that?
Dawson: Because (stopping) because everything was perfect the way they were.
Mitch: Dawson youre being unfair.
Dawson: Unfair?? Im being unfair??? After the hell you put me through for two years my life is finally back to normal, and you do this to me.
Mitch: (looking at Gale who is near tears) Dawson thats enough.
Dawson: Were you even going to tell me?
Gale: Of course we were honey. We just recently found out ourselves, and we didnt know how to tell you. We knew youd be upset. Youve been an only child your whole life, and this will be a big change for you (pausing) for all of us.
Dawson: (shaking his head) I cant believe this.
Gale walks over to Dawson, and she rests her hand on his shoulder.
Gale: Honey, everythings going to be fine.
Dawson: How can you say that?
Dawson looks at Gale who doesnt answer. He lets out a short laugh before turning away and walking out the door.
Gale: (sighing) Well at least we dont have to worry about how to tell him anymore.
Mitch walks up behind her, and wraps his arms around her.
Mitch: Hell come around, and be as happy as we are about this.
Gale: I hope youre right.
Fade out...
Act 3
Ext. Dawsons Dock (Night of Day 2)
Joey is rowing on the creek towards Dawsons house. She stops mid stroke when she sees Dawson sitting forlornly out at the end of the dock. She hesitates briefly before continuing to row to his dock. As she gets closer to the dock, Dawson looks up. His expression is of shock, and pain. Dawson expression goes blank as Joey rows up to the dock. She ties her boat to the dock in silence, and she slowly climbs up to the dock. She sits next to Dawson.
Joey: (quietly) Hey.
Dawson: (forlornly) Hey.
Joey: (concerned) Are you okay?
Dawson: I havent been okay in a long time.
Joey: (sighing) Dawson...
Dawson: And just when things were going good the bottom falls out.
Joey: (confused) What do you mean?
Dawson: My parents are expecting.
Joey: Expecting what?
Dawson: A baby.
Joey: (shocked) A what?
Dawson: A baby.
Joey: (practically speechless) Oh my God.
Dawson: That was my reaction.
They sit in silence for a while.
Dawson: Today I told Jen I was growing up. That I was a new and improved Dawson Leary.
Joey: Dawson...
Dawson: But I realized that Im not. I mean my parents are having a baby. Theyre happy. My family is stronger than it ever was, and yet the first thing I thought of was how it will affect my life.
Joey: Dawson, the natural initial reaction is your own feelings.
Dawson: But my reaction was jealousy, and resentment. How unfair, and selfish is that?
Joey: Dawson, you cant help how you feel.
Dawson: I was horrible to my parents. I accused them of ruining my life.
Joey: Im sure they understand, and the important thing Dawson is that you know you were wrong, and you can fix it.
Dawson hesitates as he digests what Joey said. He turns to look at her.
Dawson: Im sorry Joey.
Joey: You should apologize to your parents not me.
Dawson: Im sorry for how I acted.
Joey is completely floored as she realizes why he is apologizing.
Joey: What?
Dawson: You said you could always forgive me, but can we ever be friends again. I mean really be friends. (choking up) I miss you so much Joey.
Joey wraps her arms around Dawson, and he rests his head on her shoulder.
Joey: (near tears she whispers) I miss you too Dawson.
Ext. Docks (Night of Day 2)
Doug and Sarah are walking along the docks hand in hand.
Sarah: Its such a beautiful night.
Doug: (looking at her lovingly) Its perfect.
Sarah turns her head, and smiles. Doug lowers his lips to hers, and they share a kiss.
Doug: (pulling away from the kiss) I love you.
Sarah: I love you too.
They smile at each other before continuing their walk in silence. Finally, Sarah breaks the pleasant silence.
Sarah: I really liked your brother.
Doug: (surprised) You did?
Sarah: Uh huh.
Doug: Paceys a pain in the ass, but he has a good heart.
Sarah: You love him Doug, and youre proud of him.
Doug: When have I ever said that?
Sarah: You dont have to. I can tell by how you talk about him.
Doug: I called him a pain in the ass.
Sarah: (laughing she punches his arm lightly) I meant when you tell me stories about him.
Doug: I am proud of him. Hes really grown up.
Sarah: Maybe we could all have dinner sometime soon.
Doug looks down at her with a questioning glance.
Doug: Yeah, we could do that sometime.
Int. Daniels Car (Night of Day 2)
Daniels driving, and Andie is sitting in the passenger seat.
Andie: I had a really nice time tonight Daniel.
Daniel: You think the night is over? Its just beginning doll.
Andie: I should have known not to expect just dinner out of you. Where are we going now?
Daniel: Havent you figured it out yet?
Andie: Figured what out?
Daniel: That Im not going to tell you.
Andie: Im not getting pierced or tattooed.
Daniel: (rolling his eyes) Been there, done that. Youll have fun. Just trust me, okay?
Andie: (nervously) Okay.
Daniel turns down a deserted street. He pulls up next to a few other cars. Andie looks around curiously.
Andie: Where are we?
Daniel: Capesides very own drag strip.
Andie: (shocked) Drag Strip?
Daniel: Well whats used for a drag strip.
Andie: Daniel this isnt legal is it?
Daniel: (turning to look at her) Come on Andie, are you going to tell me youve never done anything that wasnt just a little on the not legal side?
Andie: (hesitantly) Well...
Daniel: Its not like were robbing a liquor store. Its harmless fun.
Andie: Until someone crashes and dies.
Daniel: (rolling his eyes) Youve watched one too many old movies.
Andie is silent.
Daniel: (sincerely) If you dont want to, we can go. I just thought you might like it.
Andie thinks about it for a minute.
Andie: It does sound like fun.
Daniel: (smiles) Thats my girl.
Andie smiles to herself as Daniel gets out of the car.
Int. Jens House (Night of Day 2)
Jen is sitting on her porch wrapped in a blanket. Shes in deep thought. The door opens, and Grams walks out.
Grams: Jennifer.
Jen looks up at Grams, and she smiles.
Grams: Its quite chilly out tonight. Why dont you come inside?
Jen: In a bit Grams, okay?
Grams: Is something troubling you Jennifer?
Jen: Its nothing really.
Grams: (sitting down) Whatever it is you can tell me.
Jen: (smiling) Thank you.
The porch screen opens, and Jack walks in.
Jack: Hi guys.
Grams: Jack, its so nice to see you.
Jack: You too.
Grams: What brings you by Jack?
Jack: (sitting down) Nothing in particular. I just wanted to talk to Jen.
Grams: (standing up) Ill leave you two alone. Jack, you should visit us more often. We miss having a man around the house.
Jack: I will, thank you.
Grams walks inside.
Jen: So whats up?
Jack: I talked to Charles.
Jen: (leaning forward she grasps his hand) Are you okay?
Jack: He may be moving to New York.
Jen: Oh Jack. Im so sorry.
Jack: Nothings definite, or anything. He just applied for an internship, but if he gets it hell leave in November.
Jen: I dont know what to say Jack.
Jack: Me neither really, but it made me think. Were all at this point where soon we will all be leaving.
Jen: I know. Ive been thinking about that too.
Jack: And it made me realize that maybe its not such a good idea to get involved right now with anyone. In the end well just have to leave them.
Jen doesnt answer right away as she thinks about it.
Jen: (quietly) Even you and me.
Jack: (turning to look at Jen) No not us.
Jen: We will most likely go to different places Jack.
Jack: (leaning back) Maybe, but well always stay friends. I know we will.
Jen: (smiling) We most surely will. You cant get rid of me that easily.
Jack: (laughing) Darn. (turning serious) Have you talked to Henry?
Jen: No. Ive been waiting for him to show up. Well waiting is the wrong word. Its more like Ive been expecting him to show up cause its Henry and thats what he does.
Jack: Maybe hes finally giving you that space you want.
Jen: (skeptically) Maybe.
Jack: That is what you want right?
Jen: It is, but the thing is I dont think hes giving me space. I think hes pulling a Henry and being dramatic.
Jack: He tends to be a bit extreme.
Jen: I know, and sometimes its sweet, but its also annoying when he does stuff like this.
Jack: Why dont you go and talk to him?
Jen: Because he walked away from me, and Jack Im not ready to talk to him, because I dont know what I want anymore. And now that Im thinking about the future (pausing) its just starting to seem like its not worth it, you know?
Jack: Cause he has to stay here, and youre leaving?
Jen: Yeah. I dont know if he realizes that the possibility that I might leave is there. And Im not even sure if Im going to leave, or if I want to leave. Jack Im just so confused.
Jack leans forward in his chair, and holds out his arms.
Jack: Come here.
Jen leans into his arms, and Jack holds her as she lays her head on his chest.
Jack: (stroking her hair) Itll be all right.
Ext. Dawsons Dock (Night of Day 2)
Dawson and Joey are still sitting at the end of his dock.
Dawson: I still cant believe my mother is going to have a baby.
Joey: It is pretty unbelievable, but Dawson its also pretty amazing.
Dawson: I know. I had no idea my parents even wanted to have more children.
Joey: I guess this would be their last chance.
Dawson: I dont even know if it was planned.
Joey: It doesnt really matter at this point though does it?
Dawson: Not really. Theyre having a baby. Im going to be an older brother.
Joey: Does that make you happy Dawson?
Dawson: (thinking about it he smiles) Yeah, I think it does.
Joey: You were right Dawson.
Dawson: (confused) About what?
Joey: You have grown up.
Dawson: I sort of had no choice.
Joey lowers her head.
Dawson: I didnt mean... (his voice trails off)
Joey: Its okay Dawson. If were going to be friends again we have to talk about Pacey.
Dawson: I think Ive done enough growing up for the day.
Joey: You cant just ignore him Dawson. Hes part of my life, and part of yours.
Dawson: Dont push it Joey. I need to take this one step at a time.
Joey: (relenting) Okay.
Dawson: Im just happy to have my best friend back.
Joey: (smiling) So am I.
Dawson looks towards his house.
Dawson: I should probably go talk to my parents.
Joey: Thats probably a good idea, and Dawson...
Dawson: Yeah.
Joey: Im sorry too.
Dawson: I know Jo. I know.
Joey smiles, and Dawson stands up.
Dawson: Ill see you in school.
Joey: Bye Dawson.
Dawson walks away, and Joey watches him leave.
Int. Dougs Apartment (Night of Day 2)
Pacey is sitting on the couch with his homework spread out in front of him. Hes not really concentrating on his homework. The door opens, and Pacey looks up. Sarah and Doug walk in laughing. Doug notices Pacey sitting on the couch, and turns serious.
Doug: Hey Pacey.
Pacey: Doug. How was dinner?
Sarah: Wonderful. Hows the homework coming?
Pacey: (with a shrug) Okay.
Sarah: What are you studying?
Pacey: History.
Sarah: My favorite subject.
Doug: Sarah teaches at the Junior High.
Theres silence as the three stand there not really knowing what to do.
Pacey: (closing his book) You know, I was supposed to go over to Joeys tonight.
Doug gives Pacey a grateful look.
Pacey: You crazy kids have a nice night.
Doug: Bye Pace.
Sarah: Bye Pacey.
Pacey walks out the door, and Sarah turns to Doug.
Sarah: I feel bad making him feel like he has to leave.
Doug wraps his arms around Sarah.
Doug: Im sure hed much rather sleep at his girlfriends house than on my couch.
Sarah smiles. Doug leans down and kisses her.
Ext. Drag Strip (Night of Day 2)
Andie is sitting in Daniels car. Daniel is outside talking to a guy with a mustang. He finishes talking to the guy, and he walks back to his car. He leans down to rest his arms on the window.
Daniel: So do you want to stay in the car, or just watch from the sidelines?
Andie: (thinks about it for a moment) Ill stay in the car.
Daniel: (winking at her) Good choice.
Daniel gets into the car, and he starts the engine.
Andie: So how does this work?
Daniel: Were racing that guy. (Daniel points to the guy with the mustang) Its pretty simple we wait till the girl over there signals for us to go, and the person who reaches the group of people down there (Daniel points into the distance where a crowd of about 20 people are waiting) first wins.
Andie: What do you win?
Daniel: Its all about bragging rights (pausing) and well 200 bucks.
Andie: Youre gambling now?
Daniel: Its not really gambling. Think of it as an entrance fee, and prize money.
Andie: Its 200 dollars. What if you lose?
Daniel: (looking over at her with cocky grin) Well thats why I dont lose.
Andie gives him a look, and Daniel just laughs.
Daniel: Ready??
Andie nods. Daniel smiles at her one more time before nodding to the other guy. He focuses his eyes straight ahead. Andie checks her seatbelt. The girl signals for them to go, and Daniel takes off. Andies eyes widen as the car races down the road. She watches the speedometer as it quickly goes up. The two cars are even, and Andie grips the dashboard. Daniel pulls ahead of the other car, and he passes the finish line first. He starts slowing the car down.
Andie: (excitedly) Oh my God we won.
Daniel laughs as he turns the car around, and he drives back to the crowd of people. He brings the car to a stop, and he turns to Andie.
Daniel: Now you cant tell me that wasnt fun.
Andies answer is to lean over and kiss Daniel.
Int. Potter B&B (Night of Day 2)
Joey is sitting at the kitchen table. Her schoolbooks are spread out in front of her, and shes busy writing in a notebook. Theres a knock on the kitchen door, and she looks up. She stands up and walks to the door. She opens the door revealing Pacey.
Joey: (surprised) Pacey.
Pacey: Hey Potter, can I come in?
Joey: Yeah, of course.
Joey steps aside, and Pacey walks into the kitchen. Joey sits back down at the table, and Pacey sits next to her.
Joey: Everythings fine Pacey.
Pacey: Thats not why Im here.
Joey: Oh, okay. So whats on your mind?
Pacey: (shaking his head) I dont know. I just needed to see you.
Joey: (taking his hand) Pacey whats wrong?
Pacey: Doug needed privacy again.
Joey: You know you can stay here.
Pacey: I know. Its okay. Im just going to sleep on True Love. I just wasnt ready to be alone yet.
Joey leans forward and kisses Pacey. He pulls her onto his lap, and they continue to kiss. They pull apart.
Pacey: (smiling) Thats what I needed.
Joey still sitting on his lap gives him a quick kiss.
Pacey: Im happy for Doug. I really am, and Sarah, his girlfriend, she seems nice. Maybe a little too nice, but she makes Dougie happy.
Joey: So hes not gay?
Pacey: (laughing) Color me shocked too.
Joey chuckles lightly, and she rests her head on Paceys shoulder.
Pacey: What are you studying?
Joey: Trying to wade my way through the Hamlet assignment.
Pacey: I havent even started.
Joey: (lifting her head) Why doesnt that surprise me?
Pacey: Well I have this really smart girlfriend, and I was hoping she would help me understand that Shakespeare garble.
Joey: Its not garble.
Pacey: It aint English either.
Joey laughs.
Pacey: So am I allowed to ask how it went at Dawsons?
Joey: (turning serious) It went good. Pacey, I know you still have issues when it comes to Dawson, and Im not blaming you, but hes really trying.
Pacey: I hope youre right, but Im not holding my breath that this new Dawson is here to stay.
Joey: Im always going to be trapped in the middle arent I?
Pacey: (pulling her close to him) Im sorry Jo, but I cant just row across the creek and have everything the way it was. You and Dawson, you guys are something totally different. Its never going to be the same with me and him.
Joey: Meet him half way Pacey. He may just shock you.
Pacey: I still dont think hes ready to meet me.
Joey: (pulling back to look into Paceys eyes) And if he is, and he tries, promise me youll try too.
Pacey: (sighs) I cant deny you anything.
Joey: (whispering) Stay here tonight.
Paceys breath catches in his throat.
Pacey: God Jo, I wish I could.
Joey: (pleading) Bessie said you could stay on the couch. Pacey I just hate the thought of you sleeping on True Love (with emphasis) alone.
Pacey: (grinning) Wanna join me?
Joey: (slapping him lightly) Thats not what I meant.
Pacey: Cant blame a guy for trying right?
Joey stands up, and Pacey follows her.
Pacey: Thanks Jo.
Joey: Are you staying?
Pacey: (shaking his head no) Thanks for listening to me.
Joey: Anytime Pacey. Ill always be here for you.
Pacey wraps his hand into her hair pulling her closer to him.
Pacey: God, I love you.
Pacey pulls her into a kiss.
Int. Dawsons House (Night of Day 2)
Dawson walks into the house and straight to the living room. His parents are sitting on the couch talking.
Mitch: I let you pick the name Dawson. If its a boy I like the name Jonathan.
Gale: Do you know how many Jonathans there are? What about Devon?
Dawson: How about Elliot?
Gale and Mitch look up in shock at Dawson standing in the doorway.
Mitch: (surprised) Dawson.
Dawson: (walking into the room) I remember when I was about 5, and I wanted a brother so bad that I made one up.
Gale: (softly) And his name was Elliot. I remember that.
Mitch: (smiling) And you tried to get us to enroll Elliot in school with you.
Dawson: And you had to sit me down and explain that only real boys got to go to school.
Gale: You always had quite the imagination.
Dawson: But this is real, and when you told me I was a little overwhelmed. I said things I shouldnt have said, and things I didnt really mean. What Im trying to say is Im sorry.
Mitch and Gale stare at Dawson. Tears of happiness start to form in Gales eyes, and she wipes them away in frustration.
Gale: Damn hormones have me all emotional these days.
Mitch and Dawson chuckle. Gale stands up, and she pulls Dawson into a hug.
Dawson: Im really happy for you guys.
Mitch: Thank you Dawson.
Fade out...
Act 4
Int. Capeside High (Day 3)
Andie walks up to her locker, and she turns the combination. Shes smiling and humming to herself. Dawson walks up beside her.
Dawson: Hey Andie.
Andie: (turning around with a big smile) Hey Dawson.
Dawson: Youre awfully chirpy this morning.
Andie: I am?
Dawson: Yeah, you have this permanent grin plastered on your face.
Andie tries to stop smiling, but cant.
Andie: Sorry.
Dawson: No, its great.
Andie: Youre in a pretty good mood yourself.
Dawson: I am. (more serious) I talked to Joey last night.
Andie: Thats great, Dawson.
Dawson: Yeah, and I also found out my parents are having a baby.
Andie: (surprised her grin fades away) What? I mean thats great, right?
Dawson: Yeah I mean, its a shock, and Im not sure what will happen in the future.
Daniel walks up, and Andies grin returns.
Daniel: Hey.
Andie: Hi.
Dawson looks at Daniel suspiciously. Daniel glances at Dawson.
Andie: Oh you guys havent met. Daniel this is Dawson.
Dawson: (wearily) Nice to meet you.
Daniel: Like wise.
An awkward silence follows as the two guys look at each other.
Dawson: (breaking the moment) Well I have to get to class. Later Andie.
Dawson walks off, and Andie watches him leave.
Daniel: I take it he didnt like me.
Andie: Im sure he likes you. Hes just going through a rough time right now.
Daniel: (resting his hands on her shoulders) Andie, you dont have to explain. I really dont care if he likes me or not.
Andie smiles weakly at him.
Daniel: So did you race anyone on your way to school?
Andie: (laughs) Would you be jealous if I did?
Daniel: Terribly.
Andie: I really had fun last night.
Daniel: So did I, and being a couple hundred dollars richer doesnt hurt either.
Andie: You should save it in case you ever need bail money.
Daniel: Thats what I have you for.
Jack comes up behind Andie.
Andie: Oh Im not bailing you out.
Jack: Bailing you out of where?
Andie snaps around with shocked embarrassment.
Andie: Nowhere. (fake smile) Hi Jack.
Jack looks at her suspiciously.
Daniel: Hey Jack.
Jack: Hi Daniel, so why is my sister bailing you out of jail?
Daniel: We were just joking around. (the bell rings) Well thats my cue. Ill talk to you later Andie. Bye Jack.
Daniel walks away.
Andie: (mumbling) I have to get to class.
Andie starts to walk away, but Jack grabs a hold of her backpack spinning her around to face him again.
Jack: Hold on second there little sis.
Andie: Jack.
Jack: You got home awfully late last night.
Andie: (protesting) It wasnt that late.
Jack: What did you guys do last night?
Andie: We had dinner.
Jack: Till after midnight?
Andie: (defensively) We were talking.
Jack gives her a look conveying that he doesnt believe her.
Andie: (angrily) Jack, Im a big girl. I can take care of myself. Im not getting in your face about what you and Charles were up to last night.
Jack: Andie calm down. Im sorry.
Andie: Im fine Jack. I dont know what I have to do to prove to you that Im okay.
Jack: Andie, I know youre fine, but no matter how old you get, Im always going to worry about you. Its a big brother thing.
Andie smiles at him.
Andie: Thank you.
Int. Capeside High (Day 3)
Dawson is walking down the hall. He has just walked away from his conversation with Andie. He stops at a locker, and bangs his head against it twice. A girl walks up beside him. She has long light brown hair that falls down her back almost to her waist. Her eyes are green, and shes wearing a white t-shirt, and a long multi colored skirt. Her name is Tallulah.
Tallulah: Did my locker offend you some how?
Dawson is startled and looks up.
Dawson: What? I mean no, sorry.
Dawson rubs his head where he banged it against the locker.
Tallulah: Looks like my locker won.
Tallulah opens her locker, and pulls out a few books. Dawson watches her. The bell rings. Tallulah slams her locker shut, and turns to Dawson.
Tallulah: Try not to abuse my locker while Im gone okay?
Dawson: Okay.
Tallulah: Itll hurt you more than my locker. See ya.
Tallulah walks away. Dawson turns around and literally runs into Joey.
Dawson: God Jo Im sorry.
Joey: Been walking long Dawson.
Dawson laughs.
Dawson: Are you headed this way?
Joey: Yeah.
They start walking in silence.
Dawson: Im working on a new film right now.
Joey: Yeah?? Hows it going?
Dawson: Good. I may get funding, and Andie, and everyone is helping.
Joey: Thats great Dawson. Im sure itll be great.
Dawson: I know things are still a little awkward between us.
Joey: Its to be expected.
Dawson: Yeah I know, but I was umm wondering if maybe youd like to come over sometime and have movie night.
Joey stops to think about it.
Dawson: (stopping next to her) Its okay if you dont want to.
Joey: No Dawson. (smiling) Id love to.
Dawson: Great. You know where I live.
Joey smiles.
Int. Capeside High Library (Day 3)
Jen is sitting at a computer terminal. Shes concentrating on the screen. Joey walks around the corner, and she stops when she sees Jen.
Joey: Hey.
Jen: (looking up) Hey Joey.
Joey: What are you doing?
Jen: Just trying to get a head start on the government paper.
Joey: The one thats due in 4 weeks?
Jen: (nodding) Uh huh.
Joey: Its due in four weeks?
Jen: I just figured Id start early.
Joey: Jen why are you really here? I mean youre not exactly the overachieving type.
Jen: (sighs) I figured this would be the last place Henry would look for me.
Joey: (sits down next to Jen) Do you want to talk about?
Jen: Ive talked it to death with Jack, and even Dawson.
Joey: (surprised) Dawson?
Jen: Yeah, I was surprised too, but he gave me some good advice.
Joey: (hesitantly) Which was?
Jen: Maybe things arent as complicated as I think. Maybe they just arent right.
Joey: (pleasantly surprised) That doesnt sound like Dawson.
Jen: (with a smile) Its the new and improved Dawson.
Joey: (laughs lightly, but turns serious) Jen, Im not exactly sure what is going on with you and Henry, but from my own personal experience, ignoring the problem is not going to make it go away. In fact, itll probably make it worse.
Jen: Thanks Joey.
Joey: (half smile) Its nothing.
Jen: So wheres your bad half?
Joey: (laughing) Your guess is as good as mine.
Int. Capeside High (Day 3)
Pacey is standing by his locker. He pulls out his books, and he puts them in his backpack. He zips up his backpack, and he turns around. He sees Dawson coming down the hall, and he stops. Dawson notices Pacey, and he keeps walking down the hall.
Dawson: (as he passes Pacey) Hey Pacey.
Pacey is taken a back.
Pacey: Dawson.
Dawson continues on his path without missing a beat. Pacey watches him walk down the hall with an unreadable expression on his face until Dawson disappears around a corner.
Int. Capeside High (Day 3)
Jen is standing outside of a classroom. The bell rings, and students start pouring out of the class. Henry comes out.
Jen: (calling out) Henry.
Henry turns towards her.
Jen: I want to talk to you.
Henry: (nervously) Okay.
Jen pulls him to a deserted section of the hallway.
Henry: Whats up?
Jen: I thought we should talk. I mean youve been avoiding me for the past couple of days.
Henry: (defensive) I was giving you space. Isnt that what you wanted?
Jen: Yes, but it doesnt mean I want to be ignored.
Henry: (getting angry) What do you want Jen? Because Im having a hard time keeping up. First you want space, and I give you space. Now youre mad because you think Ive been ignoring you.
Jen: (angry now too) Henry, thats not how it is.
Henry: Thats how it seems to me. I mean Im trying here Jen. Im trying so hard to do what you want me to do.
Jen: (quietly) Maybe it shouldnt be so hard.
Henry: What are you saying?
Jen: (shaking her head) I dont know. I just know we are both so unhappy.
Henry: (accusatory) Are you breaking up with me?
Jen: (defensive, and annoyed) Im just saying maybe we should think about what we want, and if we can give that to each other.
Henry: (pleading) Jen, Ill give you anything you want. I love you.
Jen: I dont know what I want anymore Henry.
Henry: Do you want me? Do you love me?
Jen: Henry.
Henry: Do you?
Jen: Yes, I love you. Its just...
Henry: (begging) Give me one more chance, Jen.
Jen: Henry...
Henry: Just one more chance. Ill prove to you that I can be everything you want me to be. Please.
Jen looks up into his eyes. Tears are forming in her eyes as she looks at Henry.
Jen: I dont think you can be what I need.
Henry stands there in shock as her words finally break through.
Henry: So this is it? You are breaking up with me.
Jen: Im sorry.
Ext. Potter B&B (Day 3)
Pacey and Joey are walking up to the B&B holding hands.
Pacey: So what do you say Potter, you wanna go out with me tonight?
Joey: (teasing) Ill have to check my calendar, but I think I might be free.
Joey smiles, and leans over to kiss Pacey. They pull apart, and Pacey idly plays with her hair.
Joey: Id love to go out with you tonight.
Pacey: Thats what I like to hear.
Pacey leans forward, and kisses her again. Joey finally pulls away.
Joey: (breathlessly) We should get started on that Hamlet assignment.
Pacey tries to kiss her again, but Joey dodges him.
Joey: Hamlet.
Pacey: They all die at the end.
Pacey tries to kiss her again, but Joey holds up her hands stopping him.
Joey: Not everyone.
Pacey: Everyone except Fortinbras, and Horatio.
Joey: Impressive. Did you watch the movie or read the play?
Pacey: Does it matter? (Joey gives him a look) Okay I watched the movie.
Joey shakes her head, and pulls him towards the house. They walk in the front door, and Joey stops in the hall to look at the mail. Pacey wraps his arms around her as she flips through the mail. She pulls out a college catalogue from UC Berkeley. Pacey stares at the catalogue in her hands.
Pacey: Berkley?
Joey turns around.
Joey: Yeah, I was just thinking about it you know?
Pacey gets this far off look on his face.
Pacey: Yeah.
Pacey looks away from her.
Fade out...
