This is no case of petty right or wrong The assassination of an Archduke seemed an unlikely event to cause turmoil within the Wizarding community. At first, most witches and wizards were content to ignore the Muggle problems. After all, Muggles had conflicts all the time. The Wizarding policy of strict silence and secrecy had worked quite well in the past. In the past, however, Muggle wars weren’t so grand. The Great War was quickly growing, and it was hurting the Wizarding world with it. As much as they did not want to admit it, the Wizards were directly dependant upon Muggles. The Muggles’ problems caused a dispute among Wizards. An increasing percentage of the Wizarding world was not content to be hidden. Their reasons were all different. There were those who had grown up in the Muggle world, and optimistically wanted to unite all people. Others wanted to reign over the Muggles, and make sure that they benefited Magical folk. Others believed the current policy was fine. There was no need to change. Instead, the Ministry should spend more time ensuring that the old policy was kept and strengthened, not worrying about new ideas. Unfortunately, many seem to be becoming quite passionate about their views. The neutral try to stay out of it, but what was a healthy debate is quickly becoming a growing conflict. When people are passionate about something, they’re willing to do anything to make you agree. |
