PETRA is a legendary
Christian rock band. They've been rocking for more than 25 years. They've produced more
than 20 albums and won several Dove and Grammy awards. Their latest album is Revival. It
is their third praise album after The Rock Cries Out and We Need Jesus. They're unique in
their lyrics and music style- real rock and ballads. They are still rocking, cuz they Rock
For THE ROCK.
Why do I like
Petra? I like Petra not because somebody recommended them or they've won several Grammy
and Dove awards. I like Petra because I like what they play and what they sing about and
what they stand for.
Am I making them
kind of idols? Definitely Not. They are my heroes. There's no doubt about it. However, my
focus is always Jesus and that's what they stand for. In other words, they tune me not
towards "them" but towards God.
Is their music
relevant today? I can say for sure that they are relevant to my life. I'd like to like
music for its sake. Sure they're becoming older, not their commitment to making good music
nor their commitment towards God. Also, we should not try to be relevant to preach the
Gospel. We should not try to follow the world. The world should follow us.
More than
anything else, I enjoy their music and that makes me closer to God. It is that matters at
the end of the day.
