When a Digimon and a human form a partnership, the human is called a Digidestined (or a Tamer, in the case of the third season). The word, comprised of Digital and Destined, basically means a human who is destined to protect the Digital World. The Digidestined ALWAYS have digimon partners, save in Frontier, during which the Digidestined BECAME digimon.
