My First Time...

The following is a short story about my first time at a naturist/nudist resort. It was typed sometime in 1997, after my first visit to a nudist resort. I hope you enjoy it. I'm not exactly sure how to start this, so I'll start by saying what got me interested in this way of life.

A few years ago, I was looking through the newspaper and saw an article on a nudist resort located in Nova Scotia that I didn't know about at the time. The article had a little interview with the owner, and they discussed what type of events went on at the gatherings. If I remember correctly it was their 6th Annual Eastern Canadian Nudist Gathering, and therefore the summer of 1996. Anyway, I read the article, and thought to myself that I would have to try that out sometime (naturism), and go to that resort.

I had graduated from high school in June of 1996, so in September I ended up taking a course at the local community college. While there I checked out this resort on the Internet. I got a page to sign up to receive information from them through the mail, including directions to the resort. Some of the information that they sent me said that they didn't allow single people in, so I couldn't go...

Knowing that the Eastern Canadian Nudist Gathering was coming up, I put an ad in the local newspaper to see if there was anyone else in the area that was also interested in the naturist way of life, and would possibly be willing to go with me. Hopefully I would have been able to find a female friend to go with, and just say that we were a couple. No such luck. I got a response from a couple that lives about a 10-minute drive from where I was living and from a gentleman that was curious about the lifestyle. (He wanted to learn about it before informing the wife.)

On July 24, 1997, after working at a full time job for 6 or 7 months and having enough money to actually go, I decided to check into this singles only thing. I called the resort and they told me that singles were allowed for that weekend only. So I packed up some camping supplies and was gone. By the time I arrived in the area of the resort, it was kind of dark, and I was nervous. Since I didn't like driving in the city, I spent the night at a hotel in a town nearby.

The next morning (July 25, 1997) I left that town, and headed for Stewiake. I arrived there sometime around lunch. As I was driving up their driveway, I wasn't sure what to expect. The next thing that I saw were two nude men, walking down the road. I'm not sure why exactly, but I chuckled to myself, possibly in disbelief that I was actually there. Anyway, it was the owner and one of the other campers. I gave him my registration fee, and kept going. At the top of the hill I met their son, which I thought to be 14 or 15 years old. (He was 15 or 16, I think.) He told me to park my vehicle, take off my cloths, and go register, so I did. The owners' eldest daughter was whom I was to register with. She looked like she was somewhere between 18 and 21. (I was 20 years old at the time.) She was a pretty girl. Not knowing anyone there, once I had registered, I kept to myself in my van. I wrote a letter to a couple of friends, telling them about what I was experiencing (which was nervousness). Sometime while I was working on these letters I saw the owners other daughter. She was 11 I think. I didn't bother going to the Scavenger Hunt or Ring-toss that they held. Pizza was for supper though, so I went to that. If I remember correctly, after supper I went to bed.

I woke up on Saturday, ate breakfast, and didn't do much. I didn't participate in the Treasure Hunt. I probably was in the pool for a bit of the day. At 2:00 there was a seminar on Tai Chi & Meditation. It was interesting, but I couldn't do the moves on account of my disability. Sometime in the afternoon I got dressed and went into town to get some more ice for my cooler. While I was there I called home. Mom couldn't believe that I had actually gone through with it and gone to a nudist resort. Anyway at 4 PM, there was a Volleyball game for the campers to play. I think I was in the pool during that, since I'm not good at volleyball. At 6 PM, it was supper time, and at 8 PM was the gathering around the campfire. It was fun. We told stories, and stuff. I didn't bring a sweater with me, or a flashlight, so I got cold quickly, and would have had a heck of a time to get back to my campsite if someone hadn't given me a glow stick. (Thank-you to the person that gave me that.)

On Sunday morning I got up, had breakfast and went to the seminar that started at 10:00. It was on Nature tours and a morning message. Some people went for a walk through the woods, while the others stayed for a message. Being new to this way of life, and not being sure about having other people's hands all over me, I just watched. It was interesting to see the different methods of messaging someone. Lunch was at 12:00, followed by a Creativity Workshop at 2:00. It involved medicine bags, dream catchers, feather art & body painting. If you'd seen the picture of me sitting in a chair with something painted on my arm, it was during the body painting part that I had that done. The theme for the gathering was "SOS Nude Titanic," so the female owner had painted a picture of the Titanic hitting an iceberg on my upper arm. It was fun.

Around 4:00 was what they called "Water Works." It was basically water balloon fights and contests of some kind or other involving water. I didn't participate much cause I didn't want to get my shoes wet, and couldn't walk barefoot without getting bloody toes (on account of my disability). Later on though, they had set up this big tarp, partially on a hill. They put some liquid dish detergent on the top, and dumped some water, and it was like a water slide. It was really fun, except when you got to the bottom. If you were going fast enough, you got grass burn when you slid off the end. Once we ran out of dish soap, we each had a shower to get cleaned (from the pieces of grass and dead leaves on our skin) and went in the pool. That was the funnest event, in my opinion. Then we had supper, and a campfire gathering again. I was smart this time, and brought a sweater and flashlight.

The next morning (Monday, July 28, 1997) was Continental Breakfast. Then there was a seminar on the Body and the Sexual Image. Basically, a seminar on how the body is used sexually in advertising and other things. It was during this that a helicopter passed overhead. It stopped for a second, and kept on going. We all waved at it and had a good laugh. We continued on with the seminar and then it was the closing circle. Time to leave.

The next day I went to work, and come to find out that some of the customers at the gas station I was working at had asked where I was when I wasn't at work on Monday. My mother told them that I was gone to a nudist resort somewhere. Some of the customers had a good time teasing me about that, but it's common knowledge now.

All in all, I had a good time. The only problem I had was how eager the owners were to get paid. All throughout the celebrations they had 50/50 draws. At one of the meals I had gotten a ticket, and didn't have any money on me. (No pockets, since I was nude) I figured I would pay them when I came back for the campfire. They more or less made me go back to my van, across the rocky as hell path to get the money as soon as I was done eating. I was not impressed. Oh, a little note on the singles only thing... They allow singles of good nature to come to the campground. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed reading about my first time at a nudist resort, and hopefully it wasn't to boring for you.
