Crystal Crescent Nude Beach is a crescent shape backed by a low bank of beach grass. There is a partially protected natural "wading" pool - good for kids. The water does not usually warm-up until August and sometimes not then. Quick dips in the very clear water is usual until (& if) it warms up. A great place to visit when the Atlantic is churned up. The rocks past the beach take a good trashing, sending spray high in the air. It's beautiful on a calm warm day.
Crystal Crescent Beach has been nude for 20+ years. There was a threat of legal action (about 1992) to stop it, but it fizzled. On weekends the crowd is about 60% male and 40% female. Weekdays 80% male, and 20% female.
DIRECTIONS: Route 306 or 349 to Sambro. Follow sign to Crystal Crescent Beach - plainly visible. Park in any of the areas - lots of free spots. You see a beach from parking lot. The nude beach is the 3rd beach over to west - right. Follow the well warn path. The nude beach is about 300 metres long. The nude area is about 4 kilometers out on an undeveloped crown land peninsula. The hike is about 15 minutes to the nude beach, where nudity begins.
