PETE BAKER

Pete began his musical career in the mid-eighties as a freshman in high school, a tale much like that of countless other musicians. However, that is where the similarities with other musicians end! What started as self indulgent plunking on the guitar at home quickly evolved into the thrill of playing with a band in front of a live audience. Soon after that, the association was made between success and autonomy, and has been the driving force behind the man and his art ever since. Armed with this "key to happiness," and a few other basic values such as hard work, honesty, a positive attitude and being persistent, many good things were to come.

By the mid-nineties, Pete was touring the Mid-Atlantic region with a band that he co-founded called the Poorhouse Rockers. While learning the ropes and rigors of life on the road, he also gained some valuable lessons regarding the power of radio support and its correlation with record sales and gaining a larger audience. The Poorhouse Rocker's first release, "Evicted" sold out several times before the group disbanded. It was Pete's rootsy mid-tempo rocker "Pictures of Happiness" that got the attention of several local radio stations, and more lessons were learned that would be applied in the future. The Poorhouse Rockers evolved into Pete Baker and the Agitators and continued to evolve. They honed their sound into an a no holds barred adrenaline fueled rave up that drew people from the farthest reaches of the earth whenever the band came to town. In 1999 the Agitators recorded "Having a Ball" and found more success. This era marked the beginning of Pete's growth as a songwriter, having already established himself as a guitar player and a live act to be reckoned with. From this CD, "Voodoo Queen." Bored and Lonely," and "Wichita" were the most requested songs at live shows with confidence and capital to the next recording. Pete Baker and the Agitators went back into the studio in 2002 to record their second CD. As the sessions were winding down and things were nearing completion, Pete learned one of the toughest lessons of all time...no band lasts forever.

With another new CD of his own material recorded, Pete kept his chin up and used the breakup as an opportunity to move forward and grow. When the mastering was complete, he quit his day job to pursue music full time as a solo act. Since making the crucial move to playing full time, he has found much more success than he ever anticipated. The CD, tentatively titled "East Coast Cat" was never officially released, but is available at live shows. This latest CD shows Pete's extreme growth as a songwriter and a singer as well as his promise for the future.

Currently, Pete continues to write, record, and tour as well hire out as a session guitarist. Plans for the future include finding effective management, a recording contract that will be beneficial to the record company as well as the artist, and stepping up to the next level in marketing and venues that he plays.
