Minors
03 April 2004
Ads are meant to glorify their product - I can't blame Budweiser for trying to make its beer look good. I do, however, find fault with an organization that goes out of its way to promote itself to teens and families and then forces beer ads down the throats of the under-aged.
People can choose to buy beer or not, but there is no such choice when it comes to viewing advertising.
Plain and simple, the Padres (at the recommendation of MLB) are advertising to minors. They must either drop the ads, or drop their marketing of Petco Park as a 'family-friendly' facility.
HOK, a loogie
29 March 2004
Everyone in San Diego has her own take on Petco Park's design. My favorite so far: According to the North County Times, Petco Park's senior project designer, HOK Sport's Mike Wekesser, called it "an eye-turning ballpark."
Ain't that the truth. When I think about how dark, cold, and cramped Petco Park is, my eyes indeed turn in my head.
I've got a long season and 41 games to change my mind...
