Clay
When she stands in the water she wonders why her feet don't melt away.

Her feet of clay and water.

Shouldn't like join like?

Shouldn't these base parts flee from the unlikeness of her broken iron soul?

From her patchwork mind of other people's lives and hearts, only bound by the thinnest thread of determination?

These parts that make her new whole make her new mind far too conflicted.

Conflicted.

Such a nice term for "terrified".

The strange thing is, she can't remember being afraid before.

The strange thing is, she can no longer tell which memories are really hers.

The strange thing is,
it doesn't matter.

She has cast off her heavenly pedestal, her other-life of air and light and certainty.

Exchanged this for a body of earth, with earth's desires and frailities.

There is a tradition that broken pots are that much stronger for being broken and re-mended.

And maybe now she can understand that there is a strength in imperfection.

Her feet will not yield to the water.
