"I'm only a visiting teacher," she said, and her head hung low.
"I'm really not very important, I guess I'll not even go.
I'm sure that no one will miss me, no one will really care.
I'll see to my work this morning, instead of going there."
So she hurried around all morning, her home was polished and swept;
When stopping to rest for a moment, she sat in her chair and slept.
And scarce had her eyelids fluttered, before a vision came to her sight;
And standing there before her was a personage clothed in white.
She saw in His hands the nailprints, His brow where the thorns had
lain,
His side where the sword had pierced it; His face with it's look of
pain.
"I gave you some work to do," it seemed she heard him say.
"You thought it of no importance, so you stayed home today."
"You did not deliver my message; you did not feed my sheep.
You only swept and polished and stayed at home to sleep."
"Oh, Master," she cried, "forgive me, that I should fail to see.
Had I done it unto the least of these, I'd have done it unto thee."

Just A Visiting Teacher
I'm just a visiting teacher
I said, to my friend today,
And my Father in Heaven heard me,
For I heard Him softly say;
Not just a visiting teacher,
A disciple, tried and true,
For wherever you carry my message,
My spirit goes with you.
Some daughters of mine have burdens
Some seem to have lost the way
Go take them my love and my gospel
To strengthen them day by day.
Never say, "Just a visiting teacher,"
Have faith and you will understand
When you enter a home with love and a
Prayer, I take you by the hand.

Candles of Light, traveling by twos,
Visiting each house, chasing the blues.
Teaching the Gospel, spreading their light,
Shining examples of lives that are right.
Unselfishness and kindness kindle the flame.
Friendship's the wax that cradles the same.
The Gospel's the wick that runs its way through,
Leaving it's message, old yet new.
Candles of Light traveling this way,
Can lighten the load of a dreary day,
Or cast the shadows from the darkest night,
And make all earth seem more bright.
Yes, the Visiting Teachers are candles of light,
Spreading their rays o'er all in their sight.
Ray of smiles and hope and cheer,
May they shine eternally, year after year.
