VISITING TEACHING INTERVIEWS

The quarterly VT interviews are a "must" for this work to go well.  But what to do for the Visiting Teachers to come and be inspired.  Here are some of the things we have been doing in our ward that seems to be helpful

1. Reception Room    We bring 2 sofas, a little table and a lamp from the Hall to one of the rooms, and decorate it all over with the theme for that quarter , for example: "If ye believe me, ye will labor while it is called today". - D&C 64:25  We play very soft nice music, have nice uplifting magazines around, and also some mint candies.  They are welcomed by the secretary, who is in charge of the sign-up sheet, and also of coordinating the schedule.  Our sisters love to come a little earlier and wait for their turn in that especially cozy place, that helps calm their spirit for the interview.

2. Interview Rooms

The Presidency and the VT Coordinator have the interviews in 4 different small rooms, also cleaned, arranged and decorated beforehand. We put a little cute note on the door with each leader's name.

3. Interview Guidelines

1.  Welcome teachers warmly; show your love for them; thank them for taking their time to come to the interview.  Ask about their lives, their spouses, their children, their work, etc.  Take that time to know those sisters a little better.
2.  Start with a word of prayer.
3.  Let them know how much the Lord appreciates their efforts to reach "their sisters".
4.  When applicable, see how they have progressed since their last interview.
5.  Give them their route sheet and check for possible questions or concerns.  Make sure they know who each sister is.
6.  Ask them to take a look at the handout ( copy below) and see which goal they want to achieve that quarter.

4. Setting the appointments

Visiting Teachers are separated in four groups, and then given to the President, Counselors, and VT Coordinator. They will be in charge of calling those VT in advance to set the appointments.

5. Reminders

Reminders in writing are given to the VT the Sunday that preceded the interviews.

Well, Sisters, I guess this is it for today. If you have any questions, feel free to e-mail me.  Big Brazilian hug with love, Elizabeth

OBS:
Please remember:
1.  You are responsible for Interviewing all the Teachers in your schedule. If any of them do not come, please mail their routes next day, which is ........  Then call "your VT" and set another appointment for the same week.

2.  Please return this file back to me when you finish your stewardship.  Deadline is...............    That night , during the Presidency Meeting, we will share our feedbacks about the interview.

Thank you so much for your good work!!! Elizabeth
