Brief Discussion of 1 Cor 12:12-27 (5 min.) Emphasizing the importance of accepting our differences (economically, socially, racially, etc.) as an important part of the whole "body of Christ," or the church.
10:10AM Choose 2 out of 3 offered workshops:
1) Visiting Teaching 101 (25 min) - For all who have never visit taught,
or have been visiting teaching for less than 2 years are encouraged to
attend. Basics of calling your companion and setting appointments,
presenting a message, reporting visits, etc.
2) Visiting With Cards & Letters (25 min) - Prestamped/embossed
cards are available to be colored-in. A brief explanation about what
a letter-in-lieu-of-a- visit should contain. (Merely photocopying the monthly
newsletter is minimum effort. It should be much more personal, including
inviting the sister to events, thoughts on the message, and/or something
during the month which helped you grow in the gospel, etc.) All should
go home with a homemade card and hand-out.
3) Visiting Teaching Situations & Solutions (25 min) - Conducted
by the RS President, this is an open discussion with a list of pre-thought
questions to get things going. A panel three to four sisters
should be called in advance to be prepared to help with the discussion.
Refused visits, difficult appointments, evidences of abuse, going without
a partner, giving the message, etc. should be some of the various topics
discussed as well as other topics from the sisters attending.
10:45- 11:10 Repeat the workshops for the next group of sisters.
11:15-11:30 Invite sisters to go to the cultural hall.
11:30 Luncheon served: (Tables can be decorated with recent homemaking
centerpieces, or
projects , flowers, etc.) The lunch should be something light
such as a variety of salads, rolls, and water.
12 noon - Skit (8 min.) A very tongue-in-cheek skit on the extremes (overdone to underdone) of doing our visits. Have someone in the ward write the skit.
12:10 Closing Prayer Then serve dessert.
