Fall Social Idea

We did a fall social in Arizona with this kind of theme, here are a few suggestions that we did.

Table:

Decorations:  Mason Jar inside of paper bag or bandana, tied with jute (twine) & raffia.  Filled with white daisies.  Cute, cheap!

Plates:  Our local Dennys, or Marie Calenders donated pie tins that they would normally throw away.  Call any local restaurants that serve pies in tins, they will probably just give them to you for free or a nominal cost.  This way you can use the $$$ you save on decorations

Utensils:  Use the ones in the church, wrap them up in a white napkin (or red/white checkered one).  Tie with jute or raffia, maybe stick a daisy or something in it.)

Cups:  Paper (red/white checked) or better yet,  pint or half-pint Mason jars!

Food:  Roast Beef, Honey Baby Carrots, New Potatoes, Green Salad, Roll, Lemonade or Water (Going with the theme, we wanted to do a good old Country Stew).  For dessert, we had the sisters sign up to bring pies & we served vanilla ice cream to go with it.  It was a big hit.

Entertainment:  We had an old-fashioned talent show, the theme was country so we had some old jug band musicians, a couple of couples did humorous readings & songs.  It was very entertaining & a lot of fun.

Decorations:  I don't know if you can do this anymore but we laid down some black plastic, brought in some hay bales, and some wooden pallets (the flat ones) we found an old fence that we latched together, decorated it with cornstalks, hay bales, pumpkins, sunflowers, etc.  (oh, and an old scarecrow).  It was really cute.  Come to think of it, you wouldn't have to do this inside the Cultural hall, you could do it outside in the parking lot or something outside.  It was sooooo.cute!!!!
