Subject: RS: Parable of the Chocolate

Dear Sisters,

Someone wanted "The Parable of the Chocolate" from the basement of the Relief Society Building.  Here it is.  (This was on a large poster with lots of Hershey's chocolate bar wrappers, several sizes.)

The Parable of the Chocolate
               Enos 1:4
"And My Soul Hungered..."

Try as we might to describe to someone the delicious taste of chocolate - we often cannot convince them with words alone of its luscious nature.  But if we can just give them a taste - they will know for themselves how very desirable it is.

Try as we might to describe to sisters how wonderful temple worship is and the beauty of the spirit that is felt in the temple - we often cannot fully convey to them how marvelous it is.  But if we can just give them a taste - they will know for themselves how desirable it is.

Focus:  Unendowed sisters who are temple worthy - or who may become temple worthy with sensitive direction from their bishop.

                  Relief Society Presidents

Meet:  with your bishop and discuss with him sisters in your ward who may qualify for a Limited Use Recommend that will allow them to attend the temple to perform baptisms and confirmations for the dead.

Personally Invite:  these sisters to attend the temple with you.  A personal invitation from the Relief Society President lets them know they are loved and cared about by you.

Encourage:  them to meet with the Bishop to explore the possibility of obtaining a recommend.  The Bishop can then inform you which sisters will be able to attend and when.

Include:  their Visiting Teachers in this temple visit.

Request:  that the Visiting Teachers continue to accompany their assigned sister to the temple.

             Teach - about the Temple
Testify - to them about the Temple
Take - them to the Temple

Providing sister with this taste of the Temple worship and service will create in them an appetite - a hunger for more.  They will yearn to share this blessing with their family members.  They will serve as motivators within their families to bring them all to the Temple.

I Nephi 8:12  "And as I partook of the fruit thereof it filled my soul with exceedingly great joy; wherefore, I began to be desirous that my family should partake of it also; for I knew that it was desirable above all other fruit."

Objective #6:  Relief Society Handbook
"Help sisters become full participants in blessings of Priesthood."
