 Subject: RS: Back-to-School Ideas

Our ward used this theme for homemaking (now known as "enrichment")  night.  We had one sister who is an elementary teacher give a class on  homework help.  She prepared a shoebox with school items (pencils,  pens,  tape, glue, scissors, small dictionary, paper, etc.) that a child might  need to complete a homework assignment.

She told us to keep this  "Homework Survival Kit" in a central location.  It was only to be used  for homework, not for art projects for the little ones!  Ideas were  exchanged on how we as mothers can best help our children complete  their  homework.  She discussed a quiet area, with no TV or radio playing, and  also talked about where the homework goes after it is done so that the  morning rush of looking for homework was eliminated.

Hopefully you could find someone in your ward who is a teacher and  could  give this mini-class!
