Sisters, for Homemaking in October we are having A "Apple" of a Country Fair.

We are going to set up like an old fashioned country fair, with hay bales, a  scarecrow, an old wagon, etc..

We are going to have demonstration booths with  someone demonstrating how to make apple pie filling, apple butter, apple  jelly, etc. We are going to have booths where you can make a dried apple  wreath, or stencil an apple apron.

We are going to have contests for the best apple-pie, and the best apple-anything (any thing made with apples) We want to have the bishopric come and be the judges and award blue ribbons.

We also thought about giving each sister "play money" when they arrive so they can  buy a slice of pie (served in a pie tin) and lemonade (served in pint jars).

This is a great idea!  how fun.

Instead of lemonade, why not apple cider, to keep with your theme?

Suggestions/ideas:

* a dried apple doll demo; they are easy and fun.

* a mini "jack o' lantern"; all you do is pierce and peel the skin of the apple for eyes, mouth, etc.

* maybe a mini-recipe book?

*Scrapbook payge layouts of apple themes - "The apple of my eye", school photo pages, etc.

good luck; I'd love to be there.

paulaj, new to list

This would be a nice little addition to the taster's table in September or for an apple class perhaps.
