Subj: Re: RS: Inexpensive Craft Ideas

A really cute craft we are doing in September is Advent Candles.  You buy a taper candle (red, white or green) and then paint all of the numbers for December on the candle.  Each night you burn the candle down to the next number.  By Christmas the candle is gone.

Another one is a Journal Jar.  Take a canning jar and make a padded top out of fabric.  You can add dried flowers or ribbons too.  Then put into the jar little slips of paper.  On each slip is written things like "My favorite thing as a child was..."   "My first day of school I remember..."  "The best thing I have ever done with my husband is..."  and so on.  Then each day you draw out a slip of paper and write about that thing in your journal.

Decorative Bath Oil (not for use!) Buy a cute bottle with a cork in it (Pier 1 Imports or similar store).  Fill bottle with dried flowers.  Fill almost to the top with baby oil.  Place cork in bottle and dip top of bottle into melted parafin wax. (add crayons to the wax to get  colors you desire)  After wax dries tie a bow around neck of bottle with raffi.

Decorative Plates.  Go to Salvation Army, Goodwill, DI or yard sales.  Buy a small plate (dessert or salad size).  One that has a scallopped edge is better than a plain one.  Spray paint white on both sides..  When dry, spray it with a light coating of spray adhesive on the front.  Lay a piece of lace over the plate and press lightly until it sticks a little.  Then spray over the lace lightly and evenly with a contrasting color.  Blue, maroon and green work best.  Remove lace quickly and let plate dry.  When all dry spray with a clear gloss.  Try using different kids of lace for lots of fun looks!!

Hope this is what you were looking for, I am not a crafty person.  However, I have enjoyed making these things and they were very inexpensive.
