She taught us that it is not to be a lesson in the way the other 3 Sundays have lessons.  The first Sunday is for the Presidency to find what the sisters are in need of then give a short message or preferably to come up with a quote or scripture on the topic and several questions (you don't have to have the answers) and let the sisters discuss.

It is through the discussion of the questions that we learn from each other.  The presidency member teaching would of course have to direct the discussion and keep it on track, but in the past I have found if I have too much material to present it doesnt allow time for the discussion.

We were also taught that we need to leave half of the time for the bearing of testimonies.

I am sure you all already knew this instruction, but it was something I learned and wanted to share.
