The End Of the Beginning Part II
Skye jerked awake. Her hair was matted to her head. She felt a little woozy, but she smelled the reassuring smell of sea water and felt better. She rolled out of the bed and looked to see what time it was. Her clock said 1:30 A.M. She rubbed her eyes and looked on the top bunk and Priscilla. She could hear her gentle breathing. Without turning on a light, so as not to wake up Priscilla, Skye left the small room and went down the rickety stairs.
"The Harbor is so much nicer now that Shinra has been flushed,"SKye thought to herself. She walked through the sleeping town and down the steps laid in the seawall. She sat on the bottom step, and thought about her reaccurring dream. She never knew the end.
Skye sighed. She looked up at the star sprinkled sky and wondered where her brother was. She felt a tear stream down her face. She brushed it away carefully.
"Cloud,"she said to the tear that sat on her finger, "you still owe me that dance."
The last she'd seen of her brother was when he was fourteen, and she was six. She'd remembered him saying her was leaving for ShinRa, and he might not be back for a while. She asked him why he wanted to leave her and Mama, but her told her she didn't understand, which sent her to tears. She remembered the NHF, where he danced with Tifa during the song he'd promised his little sister.  So he promised he'd owe her a dance. She remembered the day he left, and she hadn't seen him since.
She dusted the sand off of the bottom step, which, after a while, sent a throbbing numbness through her index finger. She leaned against the next step up and though about calling Mr. Dolphin, but decided against it.
Overall the sea was fairly placid. Every now and then a wave would roll in and crash against the rocky wall of the harbor. The night air was silent except for the footsteps making their way down the stairs.
                   "Skye?" It was Tifa.
                   "Yeah?" Skye asked.
                   "You miss him don't you?"
Skye felt hot tears rolling down her cheeks.
                   "Yeah."
Tifa put her arm around SKye's shoulders.
                   "Me too."
