Partridge Lake is in the Parrysound area of Ontario, Canada.This trip takes us across two lakes & around two sets of rapids via portages just to get there. This helps to ensure some privacy & tranquility which is what we are seeking. The fishing is pretty good here (bass, pickerel & pike). There are also a few snapping turtles in the lake. The area is known for a population of rattlesnakes so keep your eyes open. There are also bears & moose in the immediate area.
Put your food up in the air between two trees or you may have an evening guest (grrrrr).
Neighbouring lakes can be reached by canoe or portage trails. Hiking in this area is most enjoyable but bring your bug spray. The night sky is absolutely gorgeous and you may see the northern lights on occassion.
Note: some people have already begun destroying the natural beauty of this area by leaving their garbage behind. How thoughtless! pack it in / pack it out.
Also there are no toilets or running water so take a shovel for the waste & BOIL your water. |
