Chapter 2: Dreams
Next
11 years and 11 months later, Puzz looked around at her new roommate at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry as she slept.  Being moved for the 5th time had put her in a bad mood and she wasnt really very happy to have to share her room once again.  She went over the specifications of her new roommate in her head. Pandora Black; shy, sweet, smart, and a distant relation of Puzzs best friend from Hufflepuff, Luna. Pandora seemed to follow the crowd a bit, and tended to her studies. Her grades were good and she stayed out of trouble as much as possible. Pandora was Puzzs opposite to a T, but she had no doubt that they would get along just fine nevertheless.
Puzz was restless and didnt want to sit around anymore. She decided to take a walk and see if anyone else was still up.  The common room was vacant, so Puzz decided to check the Great Hall.  She walked down the steps to get to the Great Hall. As soon as she entered she saw the familiar tables in front of her. Ravenclaw, Slytherin, Hufflepuff, and her personal favorite, Gryffindor. They were totally empty except for one girl sitting at calmly the end of the Hufflepuff table doing her homework. She recognized the girls figured and spoke her name quietly, making sure not to be too loud. If they were caught out of their common rooms after 12, the would be in serious trouble. Little known to few, they did this quite often. This was their chance to get caught up on their work, due to the fact that they spent all their days flirting with guys, dodging teachers, and making as much trouble as possible. Luna looked back and smiled, Hey miss. How are you? Puzz sighed, Restless. I even tried to get to sleep this time. Luna frowned quickly, Maybe it has to do with your dreams. Puzz shook her head, If that was it, I would have stopped sleeping a long time ago. Luna shrugged.
Puzz took a seat next to her. Which class? Arithmancy. Oh, tough one. Luna shook her head in agreement. Whats the date? January 19th, 2086. Puzz added it in her head. 9. How did you get that? 0 + 1 = 1; 1 + 9 = 10, which reduces to 1; and 2 + 0 + 8 + 6 = 16, which is 7; 7 + 1 + 1 = Luna shook her head. Ill get you back for that come Quidditch practice. Puzz shook her head, not if I can outrun you. She giggled lightly and watched Luna do the rest of her work. Luna finally realized that Puzz hadnt been doing anything. Dont you have homework? Puzz nodded, Taken care of, I think that our class is about a day ahead of yours now. Luna shrugged. I think that the teacher favors you. Who? Professor Satori? No way. He doesnt cut anyone a break. You know how Raylore is.
Shh. I hear something. Puzz listened. Its Filtch. Lets get out of here. Luna picked up her books and started walking for the stairs to the Hufflepuff common room. Arent you coming? Puzz shook her head. I need to talk to my aunt. Dont worry about me. Luna nodded and continued up the stairs to the Hufflepuff dorms. Puzz turned back around and headed down a corridor to and down a case of stairs that led to the Headmistresss office.
She knocked softly. Yes? Come in. Spoke the sweet voice on the other side of the door. Puzz walked in and took a seat. Why, hello dear. What are you doing here so late? Is something the matter? Puzz picked up a quill off the desk and started taking it apart. I couldnt sleep. Well dear, it happens. What can I do for you? Puzz fiddled with the quill even more. Ive been having dreams lately Auntie. I dont know what to make of it. The headmistress suddenly looked very uncomfortable. What sort of dreams? Puzz leaned back in the chair and started to put the quill back together again. I think that it has something to do with mum and dads death. The headmistress leaned back uneasily. Oh. Would you like to talk about it dear? Well, I hear screams. I see lights and I can hear a laugh. An evil laugh like one of the men that murdered them. Yes, the death eaters. Do you see anything else in your dreams? Yes. I see you, you are taking me and running with me from the house. I remember that house too. The smell. Just like Christmas. The headmistress smiled at ease once more. Thats how your mother would have wanted it dear. She loved that smell just as much as you do. Puzz looked at her and smiled too. I know. I miss her auntie. She misses you dear.
But what about the dream? Why doesnt it all add up? I see a mans face. It looks just like the pictures that you showed me of daddy, but he has a wand. How can that be? The headmistress was once again uneasy. Your father was a muggle Anne. Ive told you the story over 100 times before. You must know that. The death eaters came for them because of his blood, and I barely escaped with you in your fathers car. What is a car like again auntie. Please tell me. I do so wish that I could ride in one some day. Not now dear. Its 3 already, and school starts in 3 hours. You need your rest. Ill take you back to your room. Come along Anne. Puzz talked as they walked. Why do you call me Anne and not Puzz like everyone else? Because its your proper name dear. No. My proper name is Maralete Anne Bantrazon True, but I adopted you, so now it is Maralete Anne Paraguez. And I just call you Anne because its easier to pronounce when Im in a hurry. She put her arm around Puzzs shoulder as they walked up the stairs.  When they reached Puzzs dorm, the headmistress released her and smiled. Here you are Anne. Now, do try to get some sleep before the sun comes up. Puzz walked back in the room to see that Pandora was still fast asleep in her bed. Goodnight Aunt Arabell.
