A few Myths and Legends of Lancashire,s Pendle Country
There are many tales to be told about Pendle and Lancashire
from Haunted houses, to Ghostly Monks and Headless Phantoms
walking moonlit lanes.
Alice Nutter ,Mother Demdike otherwise known has the Pendle Witches
And should you go too close to the waters edge then beware, because
the terrifying Jenny Greenteeth was sure to come and pull you in.

Chingle Hall.....
Chingle Hall supposedly one of the most haunted houses in England is
situated in Lancashire.
Chingle Hall has been featured on the tv series Ghosthunters
and there are dozens of websites detailing peoples experiences while
staying overnight at Chingle Hall.
My son decided after watching Ghosthunters and visiting many of the
websites that he too would like to stay overnight at Chingle.
So in late August of this year we went for a drive and found the hall.
The afternoon was lovely warm and sunny, to me
the hall looked like just any other country cottage i was fortunate
enough to be able to speak to the owner who kindly
gave me permision to take a couple of photos.

Salmesbury Hall....
Ever since i was a little girl and either on the way to or from Blackpool i was
fascinated by the big black and white house known as Salmesbury Hall
and the ghost story that went with it of the White Lady.
Finally at the age of 39 and a mother of 4 i made my visit to the hall
and although the hall is mainly now a antiques showroom i was still
captivated by the thought of this lonely sad White Lady haunting it's grounds.
The White Lady is supposedly Dorothy Southworth daughter of
Sir John Southworth a devout catholic.
She fell in love with a protestant neighbours son the two lovers where banned
from being together they planned to elope but unbeknown to them they
had been overheard by Dorothy's brother.
On the evening the elopement was to take place the lovers met as planned
the brother charged from his hiding place and killed his sisters lover
along with two of his companions.
The bodies of the three men were buried within the grounds of the hall chapel
and Dorothy was sent away to a convent where eventually she went insane and died.
Her ghost is said to wander around the grounds the ghost of her lover is sometimes
seen too both dissapearing when they reach a certain spot thought to be his grave.
A few years ago 3 skeletons where discovered near to the wall edging the main road.
