Sawasdee! Welcome to Thailand!
You are about to travel through the country of
Thailand. This East-Asian Kingdom lies almost equidistant between India and
China, and is bordered by Laos and Myanmar to the North, and Malaysia to the
south (a map of Thailand).
While you are in
Thailand, you will learn all about the performing arts including drama,
puppetry and dance. Thailand’s performing arts are very different from the
drama and dance that you see in the West. This is partly because they are
more spiritual in nature and origin. In fact, almost all of the dance and
drama presentations are based upon the Ramakian, the Thai adaptation of the
religious East Indian story, the Ramayana. Before you learn about
this story, be sure to fill out the “visa entry” form and print it out as a
