As Scully sat there, her mind was everywhere but in her head. The blinding headlights of Skinner's car finally drew her back to reality. Skinner stepped out of his car in a suit and trench coat. It looked like he had never gone to sleep. Scully got up and ran to him. She hugged him, crying softly. He stroked her soaking hair. It was starting to get light, and the rain had stopped. He pushed her gently away.

Skinner
Take me to him.

They walked down the highway for about a quarter of a mile and entered the woods. Scully felt as though she was being guided by an unseen hand. When they finally came to Mulder's frozen body, she broke down and hugged Skinner again.

Skinner
Scully, how did you find him?

Scully
I don't know... I was sleepwalking or something, and when I opened my eyes, there he was.

Skinner
We need to tell Kersh. This is still under his discretion.

Scully (tearfully)
God, I wish it wasn't. I was hoping that after I was transfered back to you that I'd never have to see him again. Why does saving the man I love most have to go through the one man I hate?

Skinner
We need to get you home. You have to take a leave of absence...

Scully
No! I won't leave him like this. I need to be involved with this case.

Skinner (sigh)
Alright, if you're sure you'll be okay. You need to go get dressed and see William...

Scully
I almost forgot about him! I need to get home right away.

The two head back to Skinner's car. Scully takes one last look at Mulder and decides she'll see him later. After walking down the road again, they get in the car and go. Part of the enormous burden Scully has felt for the past five years has been lifted.
