TCCW Part Two

This week, the wrestling world lost a good man. I lost a dear friend of many years, Dennis "Tiger" Conway Sr. He suffered a brain aneurysm last weekend, followed by a stroke and then a coma that he never recovered from. To his family, I send sincere sympathies and trust that God will give them the strength to endure his passing. R.I.P. Tiger.--Percival

I had gone to Bay City, Michigan to be the guest of Tri City Championship Wrestling as their legend in attendance for the first card there.

I watched in awe as the television tapings were going on. There was talent from not only the Great Lakes area but a few from the surrounding states competing against each other. A conglomerate had assigned the task of the tapings to TCCW, and they did a fabulous job of coordinating the project.

At 7:30, the bell rang, and I was led with Josh, the chief interviewer for TCCW, to the ringside table set up for the officials and judges. Josh introduced me to the capacity audience with a lasting memory of my accomplishments in the wrestling business.

The first match had the Brooks Brothers from Salt Lake City facing the Suicycos. It was unfortunate that the Brothers lost their debut in TCCW, but they were outwrestled and outclassed by the unorthodox style of the Suicycos. It took a team of security to remove the Brooks from the arena floor.

Kamacyde was the first to come out of the curtains leading the way for "So Fine" Frank Stein. Stein has infuriated not only opponents but fans as well. He is an uncouth, brash and deliberate rulebreaker in every match that he has been involved in. He aggravates fans by saying that he is from ANYWHERE ELSE but their city. He also has made it a point to compensate for his size by using dirty tactics in the ring.

As I went to introduce his opponent to the crowd, Stein grabbed the mike from my hand and told the fans that he didn't want them to chant "Frank Stein Sucks." That brought about three minutes of the chant from the audience. I finally took control of the situation and introduced his opponent, "Explicit" Xavier Justice.

The crowd had seen this young man before at arenas around the Bay City area and were very receptive to him. In the meantime, as I was trying to get out of the ring, I was confronted by Kamacyde and his Kendo stick. I don't care for that type of intimidation and chose to go out on the opposite side of the ring and return to my seat.

The match, one of the most outstanding for the evening, ended in a controversial way, with Kamacyde hitting Justice across the top of his head with that Kendo stick. Frank Stein gloated to the crowd about his triumph and declared himself the best in the Great Lakes area.

I started to introduce the next match when I got sidetracked by the statements that had been written on my notes about one of the wrestlers. It said "The MAN, The MYTH, The LEGEND … ‘Untouchable’ Steve Amani.” As he entered the ring, he let me know that I was invading his turf and was incorrect in calling myself a LEGEND!

The fans were quick to agree that he may have bitten off more than he could chew as his opponent entered the arena floor. He was from Davenport, Connecticut, but had recently moved to the Bay City area to pursue a career. At 225 pounds, he was definitely "Hi Definition" Daniel Sigma.

These two fought almost 15 minutes before Amani grabbed a convenient wad of tights and pulled off a three-count on Sigma, completely out of the referee's view. Amani went on to pat himself on the back for the next few minutes before getting bored and returning to the dressing room.

As I started to introduce the next match, I looked at my notes and saw that Superior Twp. had been crossed out, and West Point had replaced it. As I began to give the accolades to this athlete, the music of "Hail To The Chief" came blazing out of the speakers. Two masked henchmen that have been employed by Zorin Enterprises Inc. led the way for the Supreme Commander, J. T. Zorin.

He is not liked in ANY of the arenas that he has competed in thus far. He claims a "LOT OF JEALOUSY" and the fact that fans just don't understand the finer logistics of hand-to-hand combat in the squared circle. He also claims that he is superior to ANY of the so-called athletes that come to the rings to battle in the Great Lakes area.

His glory was soon broken up by me introducing a man that I am very familiar with by the name of Bull Wheeler. I steered clear of Wheeler as he proceeded to kick the living daylights out of Zorin.

Fans were into this match a lot and declared that Bull was, in fact, their favorite. I never could understand why fans would do things that they do, but then I don't like mushrooms either.

Bull ended up the winner by disqualification, but the war was far from over between these two. Zorin, in an act of cowardice, had his two thugs try and beat the snot out of Bull. They fought on the arena floor and even got a fan involved in the battle by dragging him to the ring and stomping a mud hole in him. He was attended to by EMT personnel on duty.

The entire dressing room emptied out, and wrestlers were all over the place, and a battle began that ended up in the dressing rooms, where it was contained by security.

As we broke for a much needed intermission, I was happy to finally get my wits back in order and prepare for the rest of the evening.

With the intermission over, I was happy to continue with my job for the evening and proudly introduced the next event for the evening. First, I called out from Hazard County, Kentucky, at 400 pounds, Big Chuck Wagon. He came to the ring in bib overalls and carrying a large folded metal chair with him.

His opponents were a combined weight of 375 pounds … Unr8ted and Desmond Dukes. The match was held under handicap rules, allowing both members of the team to be in the ring at the same time. They tried to double dropkick him and pin him using both members, but he was just too big and just too strong.

Chuck Wagon ended the match with a double big splash off the center rope onto the pair. Then, a three count followed, and he was given the hands up and declared the winner for the night. Chuck Wagon left the ring and sat in his chair on the front row to watch the next match.

To be continued…
