A Christmas picture of George, Claudia and Andy sent to Percival this past year. Percival: "It is one of the treasures that I will not part with. R.I.P. George."

George Gunderson

One of the hardest things for me to do is to write about someone no longer with us. This past week, the world said goodbye to a great friend, a father and husband ….. George Gunderson Jr.

He was just 51 and had been the uplifting source of energy for his family that included his wife Claudia and son Andy. George was a family man that devoted much of his spare time to being more than just a dad. George was involved with a local chapter of the Kiwanis Club and was the current term vice president.

George also helped other groups out that were less fortunate, including Alicia's House, a food bank run by Reverend Juan and Stella Hernandez in honor of their niece. George and Claudia were honored at the last golf outing in Beecher, Illinois for their hard work in helping feed many hundreds of families with their donations of time and money.

George was a devoted wrestling fan and was a Life member of the Cauliflower Alley Club and had attended the 2004 banquet in Las Vegas last April. George mingled with many of the wrestling greats that were in attendance and took many pictures to share on his website, www.geocities.com/ggunderson.

The world lost a tremendous friend on February 7, 2005, but we were all better people by knowing George and his family. George was a good man, and you were a stranger to him but once. His unforgettable smile and kind nature were his trademarks.

His love of the old school style of wrestling and knowledge of the old Chicago and AWA territory are second to none. Those memories and the tales that were attached to them now are locked in the thoughts of people that knew George.

May Heaven open up those ring ropes for you, George, and let you mingle with the greats that our business had that have passed on. May God give comfort to Claudia and Andy to get them through this sad experience.
